Basically the car is a 2007 model, 207cc 1.6 GT turbo version, 37k on the clock really immaculate and the engine is dry as a bone. Checked the obvious on the turbo, had sensor replaced five months ago, yet the problem came back today with no power what so ever from the turbo. getting frustrationg now. No cracked pipes, no leaks just not spooling up at all, driven it for a good half hour todya and still no turbo. Any ideas please ???? Read more

I was thinking maybe turbo oil feed blockage, similar to what plagues the 407 with the 1.6 engine.

I have been trying to find out if the fiesta tdci 1.6 90ps (2007) has a dual mass flywheel fitted or not? We have one in the family which is going to need a clutch soon and I need to make a decision to keep or not. Read more

You don't need to talk to a dealer-enter the Vin into Ford Etis-that will give you a partial build spec-you can continue and get the WHOLE build spec.Just type ETIS into a search programme.

Hi, ne to the forums so hello everyone and happy Christmas .

Last night I managed to scraped the wheel arch on the coupe getting it into the garage.

Now I've had experience of the local Chipsaway guy and he is pretty poor and does not even leave his work polished up let alone blend correctly , my point being they are not an option for me.

Guess I'm looking to understand how much work is involved and whether this is a body shop job to get it repaired?

Their is not end to the arch just what seems like laquer loss and scrapes to the white undercoat No metal is exposed.

I'm going to try and post a picture here..

Regards Simon

Agreed, £100 sounds about right for a single panel with that sort of scrape, would be interesting to see how much higher, if any, the larger bodyshops with managers, receptionists, office carpets, company/courtesy cars and 'free' machine coffee would quote.

Having retired on Christmas eve. l've spent the last few days considering which convertable to buy, as a secnd car; in the new year. It will be approximately a 10 year old. petrol vehicle & l've narrowed the options down to the Audi A4 1.8 or the 2 litre Saab 93 Aero.

I know this sort of decision is mostly down to personal choice however, l would value any opinion, considerations or indeed things to watch out for. Read more

Steve, l know what you mean. There are sportier 2 seater convertables out there, though the 350Z & the Crossfire are too pricey, running cost wise; for me. l want the extra seats so my wife & others can join me; l have had 2 seaters in the past & they can be quite restrictive at times.

After 25 years of commuting to London by train my company is relocating to the Home Counties, and I'm going to have to drive to work. Its about a 150 mile round trip (much of it on the M25) and I'll have to go probably 3 days a week, so I need to buy another car that can do 25,000 miles a year. (My wife needs our exisiting family car - a 10 year old Prius).

To be honest, the old Qq can't be bad as it sold so well, and I'm sure by now most of the faults it did have would've been ironed out/repaired, those remaining you'll know about after looking through the review (especially the 'Good and Bad' section) of the car-by-car reviews and owner reviews here.

As you say, the Mazda is quite pricey (they've looked to go a bit more upmarket these past few years). Shame that the new Honda HR-V hadn't appeared on the scene a bit earlier - it would've been a very fine alternative to the Qq....

Finally sold our old house a year after we moved, got the money, thinking of the car I would really really like, and decided not to, mostly because of the amount of vat on the sale, and the huge depreciation on the car i was thinking of.

So Plan B or C, buy myself something a bit different, lookswise but used and with a warranty or outright cheap and take the risk..... Read more

MG ZT 260 I'm sure soon to be an appreciating classic.

Yes that's what came into mind here too. Someone on another forum said they have already started to appreciate again. And petrol is getting cheaper...

Hello,

I looked at a new Viva yesterday and was amazed by what I found. When one or both front seats are pushed back it is impossible to have a level floor when one or both rear seats are dropped. I currently have a Corsa and both front seats are always pushed back and there is a definite gap between them and the extended capacity into which items can be put. I was impressed before I saw the car by the seat bases being tiltable also but that is a complete waste of time in my opinion if the front seats have to be well forward all the time. Both my wife and I need the front seats pushed back, to move them forward would be to make driving impossible for me as I would be right up against the steering wheel. Again, my wife needs the legroom, travelling would be very difficult for her otherwise. So, for us, the Viva has to be treated as a small car( fine) with a miniscule boot which cannot be extended as I had hoped. Have other contributors found this problem? If so, are there any useful suggestions for overcoming this? Read more

Not true, the Viva was replaced by the Astra in 1980 (V Reg).

The Chevette lasted very nearly as long as the Astra Mk1 into 1984, being seen off by the arrival of the Nova....
