I have a friend who was contacted by his insurance company due to a claim that he was in an accident and wrote off someone's car. My friend was not in an accident and so following investigation his insurance company rejected the claim. I've seen the photos of both cars, my friends car has not been in an accident, and the other car is an old banger with a bumper literally falling off. It might be worth mentioning the party making the accusation consist of three men who all have suffered from whiplash.

Hi all, while most companies were enjoying christmas eve parties, at our our company our company car drivers were sent an email to say that after a recent HMRC audit they adivsed the company bosses that they should work out company car drivers private fuel by actual real world MPG figures not the manufactures book MPG figure.
We all have our fuel paid for and complete a business and private fuel record each month. We are then charged for private fuel based on the MPG figure of the car.... Read more
My point was that my former firm was using out-of-date figures which actually were loss-making for people with average-sized cars like mine, thus peed them off (amongst other things) that they felt the need to resign during the height of the recession. I certainly didn't benefit financially from the 'arrangement', which amazingly was never mentioned at interviews. I have no problem in paying fair taxes for perks (which are effectively extra pay), but NOT getting (as a minimum) what it costs me the full cost of providing my own car for company use.
Similarly, taxes should be levied in a fair way, sometimes I agree that they should be used to encourage (for example) use of more environmentally friendly forms of travel (as long as the alternative is viable), but never to price people out of jobs because they cannot run a car or other vehicle for company purposes at a loss or spend copious amounts of time determining the exact amount to be taxed upon. Such things should be simple so everyone understands them and is fair to all as far as possible.
After b6 years my Honda CRV has got the flat battery fault ,Any ideas ?
If you can jump start the engine connect a voltmeter across the battery, it should read about 14.4 volts with the engine running, if it does chances are the battery is u/s if it reads much less it will be the alternator.

Sounds like the fuel injection system is being kept alive.Any evidence of water ingress into the engine bay fuse box?Is the lid on secure?

If your Passat has the 1.9 PD engine then I would suggest keeping it. Just look at the number of taxis using this format both home and abroad as far as China !
Even thge later model which has problems with the injectors are being fixed free of charge by VW which costs them around £2k a car and you will get a free valet....
