I know there have been threads on this but am interested if there have been any improvements or new experiences.

Many appealing newer cars now have tyre repair kits. If I had a puncture I would automatically replace the tyre ( I have known for a long time I'm neurotic ) so that is not a problem.... Read more

I can't understand why the car manufacturers don't just install pre-puncture gel instead of the compressor and goo kit.

My Grandson 18yrs old just passed his test bought a car from Go Vauxhall and it blew up 2 weeks later, they are now saying it was a trade sale because they took in PX and then sold to a member of staff and he sold it as a a Trade sale so we have no rights. It was sold from the Go Vauxhall site in Wimbledon. What's all that about ? Has this happened to anyone else ? Read more

That's because it was a woman who did it. If it were a man, he'd be faced with a harsher sentence. So much for equality.

I noticed only a few weeks ago, I been getting afew.... What i'd consider small issues? First time a month ago, I got the car go into limp mode for all of 5 seconds, After being in 3rd gear and dropping to 20mph on a 30mph road? And as quick as that light came up, It went off. 23rd of december, Had the Aux Heater/Glow Plug/ Injector amber light come on flashing, But not having me in limp mode, I had to go shopping for 20 minutes, Started the car back up...And it was fine again, And today, Again for around 5-7 seconds, the engine light came on, Into limp mode, And drops straight out.....Is my car going insane, Or is it just playing up? Any ideas would be good, As I'm off to my mechanic thursday as its booked in for its handbrake cable replacement...I was informed by another mechanic today to just turn on the electrics first, Let the lights clear, And the amber engine light stays on, Once the cars started, It's gone??

I have a Renault grand scenic 2010 model, manual gears, and the accelerator pedal has a sticking point at about 80% depressed. This can be disconcerting as the pedal sometimes sticks there when you are accelerating through the lower gears and you find yourself accelerating without control. This has caught me out on several occasions and I have had to either hit the accelerator hard to bounce it back up or get my foot behind it to pull it back. It is nothing to do with floor mats catching either. I have been told that it is to do with automatics if the car is converted. Is this right? It is certainly a worrying feature for manual drivers. I am reluctant to let my children drive it for this reason. I have replaced the pedal but this 'feature' is still there.... Read more

Can't really see how it can get stuck. It is a spring loaded electrical switch with no mechanical attachments.I am sure the autos or manuals have the same pedal, although the brake pedal may be different. If you have to pull your foot under to release it,then surely the pedal/arm must be fouling on something.Does it happen if the engine is not running?

Hi everyone,

I'm the proud owner of a nice and sensible Ford Fusion Zetec Climate 2006. I purchased it used a month or so ago and i've recently noticed that the drivers seat bottom cushion wobbles. Ive had a look underneath the seat and seen that the left hand side (nearest the gear stick) wobbles a fair bit.... Read more

I would think this is a "caged" nut that is clipped/welded into the seat frame.Best option would be to remove the complete seat out of the car for better access.

I bought a Golf Mark 7 it is just two years old and has 15k on the clock,

Just had a service and had to have the rear discs and pads replaced , they had a rusty ring on the surface of both discs, looks like the pads have been only touching part of each disc.

I queried this with the VW technician who confessed that he had seen three Mark sevens like this. I managed to get the garage to cover half the £ 330.00 cost.

Since then I looked at a one year old Mark 7 and it has the same damage.

Could anyone with a Mark 7 tell me if they have had a similar experience with the rear disc? Read more

The problem with most cars with rear discs is that they get very little use so that the surface corrosion doesn't get removed with gentle use. Try braking hard once or twice on each journey. Yes it wastes fuel, but it will make the discs last longer.

Hi, you will have to do some investigation for yourself as anyone else will just be guessing !!

I would jack up the rear end and spin the wheels by hand....

I have two of the above cars, one I have had for five years and hs covered 246,000 miles and it generally returns between 50-60 mpg, over 60 mpg on a long run. I have just bought another one with 181k on it, in excellent condition and very welll maintained but its only doing about 45 mpg on the same journeys, they are both 2001 GLX estates.

I have confirmed thes figures with brim to brim fill ups and they are pretty well correct. The new one drives perfectly with no smoke, hesitiation or any other hints of a problem and sounds sweet as a nut.... Read more
