Hi,im hoping somebody on here can help me.Im having the discs & pads changed on my Celica GT 190 2005 due to them driving me mad. What i wanted to know is,can i fit bigger discs without having to mess about having the callipers changed?,im looking at some EBC discs, front is 274mm & the rear 269mm,but i dont know if it can just be a straight swap for the standard ones on my car?,i can do the basic jobs on my car,but i leave brakes etc to a mate.
Any advice i can receive from the knowledgeable people on here will be really appreciated.
Cheers guys.

I have the above car purchased new in 2013 and after about 18 months I noticed that the alloy wheels were peeling in places. So at a 2 year 2nd service I asked the service department to look at them and confirm their thoughts. I did clean the wheels and circled all the peeling with a black marker pen and also took a series of photographs for my records.
When I went to pick the car up after servicing the service receptionist confirmed that they had spoke with Kia central about the wheels and they would be back to me in about a week.... Read more
Is anyone else getting the M&S advert that takes up the whole screen? I'm using my phone with chrome and Mcafe phone protection and add blocker yet every time I navigate the website I get this add on my screen. Read more
I don't usually get any adverts but this M&S one and if u remember the cardboard lexus one our the only two that so far have seemed to get through my ad blocker. Adverts don't usually bother me but ones that take up the whole page and appear whenever you navigate a website really irritate me.

Much as i wouldn't entertain a DSG or similar box out of warranty, on a company car does it matter, if the markett suddenly woke up to their possible long term durabilities and it turned out in three years time you can't give them away its still not the company car driver's pigeon.
Can't comment on the engine choice, lots of other large cars now feature small engine capacities we'd have have recoiled from years ago and seem to be doing fine, as said test them both out.
My old 1.6 Zetec SE (100bph) Ford Focus 53 (2003) did 2500rpm at 60mph. My current 62 (2012) Ford Focus 1.6 (105bph) ti-vct engine does 2750rpm at 60mph.
Is that also why there is not much power at 1500rpm? Why the difference given they are both 1.6 petrol engines?
What rpm then would maximum speed in my newer Focus be in 5th gear. About 6500rpm? Thanks! Read more
Wind-up or not, it was a far more interesting question than HJ's banal choice of the cost of replacing a pollen filter in yesterday's DT - I wouldn't have given it the time of day.
I've read that as "the cost of paying for the pollen filter that was charged for but, never fitted".

Yes and no!...

Don't you have two eyes to see what's in front of you, you need to slow down a bit mate if you need big brother to post a big red red cross over your head.
The red x will normally be on a gantry warning you to move across from the lane before you can see any broken down vehcile in the lane. So nothing to do with needing to slow down....

I am looking to buy a 4x4 next year (will be in a financial position to do and will be possibly moving to an even more rural area than where I currently live) that has space for a number of cat baskets in the boot and possibly a dog or two in the future and one that will cope well with rural roads and in the snow. I will be part exchanging an Audi TT Quattro 1.8 225 convertible (very impractical re pets and snow etc!!) so would like a good/fun looking vehicle and also not one that’s massive to drive. The Fiat 500x Cross Plus has been suggested to me which looks lovely but I'm not sure despite what Fiat gives the impression of, whether this is really going to be the size and 4x4 practical capability that I'm looking for. What do you think and is there an alternative or 2 that may be better? Read more
Ah...the Forester Mk2... possibly the only car one will ever need. Superb car on all levels.
Traded my car in for a VW Jetta 1.4 DSG 160 on an 08 plate yesterday. I had looked through the forums previous to buying and had noted the DSG/Timing Chain issues with the Golf which i guess the Jetta is based on. The wife will be driving the car hence the need for an auto box. The Car has 29000 miles full VW service at the same garage from new. Now i'm wondering if it's worth putting it in to an independant to have the Timing Chain checked out. I know the gearbox oil is changed at 40000 as it's only done 29000 would it be adviseable to change being as the car is nearly over 7 years old. I don't have the log book yet or would contact the previous owner to see if he has had any problems with the T/C or DSG. Any advice would be most welcome
Thanks... Read more
Appreciate the advice. I had a search around and it seemed to be a common problem with the 1.4 tsi something to do with a misfire then petrol being injected down the cylinder bore. The gearbox also seemed prone to leaks.
I'm going to have a think over the weekend. If I have to take it back just hope I can find a car with that kind of mileage and with an auto box at the price we paid for the VW...

You're very welcome, hope you get it sorted, look after it a nice car indeed.
