Anyone know how this does or doesn't work?

I drove from Leeds to Glasgow today and as soon as we left home live traffic was telling me the A66 was closed and tried to reroute away from A1/A66 to A65.

There was no mention of this closure on any travel news so I ignored it.

All the way to Bowes the system was still trying to reroute me to go towards Kendal to pick up the M6, a 12 mile detour.

I ignored the lot, no A66 closure to be seen! There were a few cones on a section before Penrith and a 40 limit, but that was it.

I've always used Garmin, but live traffic seems to be a waste of time.

Yes, i only use my Garmin sat nav once in a blue moon, such as when i have a big days work and its running into a Friday afternoon for example when the lemmings get let out, if i was working Christmas Eve tha twould be a definate, only use it to keep an eye on the traffic.

I would never use their suggested alternative routes because everyone else who worships at the altar of satnav will be doing that, i use my own routes always.

Nine times out of ten it can take anything up to an hour before any traffic info appears at all, by that time its too late to do anything about it, almost never has the current traffic system been of any benefit.

Completely unlike the old Trafficmaster system, with the YQ stand alone unit in your vehicle, using the TM overhead sensors to put up immediate info and the screen, which simple as it was in comparison to today you could scan the whole country in a matter of seconds and know before the oil even got round the engine which route to take, it was brilliant in its simplicity and ease of use.

Yet another thing that wasn't broken but had to be fixed, nothing since to touch it for instant traffic info on distance driving, the google maps traffic display is OKish but you have no idea how up to date the info is.

Mine is hit and miss. Last Sunday it failed to pick up a jam at Tebay on the M6. I was stationary for 30 mins and stop start for another 30. Not a peep from Garmin. Mind you none of the radio traffic mentioned it until 30 mins after I'd passed through.
