Looking at my and friends' local papers, apart from drink driving, most of those prosecuted seem to have been caught by camera (speeding, bus lane, etc.) or IT (untaxed, uninsured,etc.). There are a few mobile phone offences that does not reflect the number of people I see driving and using phones (often school run!) or tailgating (which seems ever more frequent and aggressive). Is it not time there was more real policing on the roads? Read more

A leaking master cylinder that caused the clutch to slip/burn/smoke, over a 70 mile drive will have damaged clutch plate, at least. I would demand photographic evidence of its state, and preferanly to see with your own eyes.
As an observation, any compensation, not that you can obtain any, would be deemed, from a tax point of view, as income
My 2008/2009 car has a full glass roof with front opening section which makes a weird creak/knock over the NSR passenger seat on rough roads. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what is the cure? Read more
Head over to the UK-based MB forum - mbclub. You'll likely get advice on a cause/fix from the forum. I know the pan-roofs on the C Class coupe used to require periodic greasing and the E Class pan-roof may be the same.
My ex wife's Mini is stuttering a bit on decelleration, the very same symptoms that my van had (albeit a diesel van) when the egr valve was sooted up.
I have read conflicting reports as to whether this car even has an egr valve! If so can anyone tell me where it is located so I can try and clean it with some carb cleaner. ... Read more
There are plenty of possible causes. A coil pack, for example. The supercharger bearings failing, for another. Or even something as simple as a new set of spark plugs required.
I'd suggest you get it into a competent garage, who may be able to read any fault codes stored, and 'live' read the car in the garage, which may help to narrow down a likely culprit.

The number of traffic officers has been cut back severely - many forces having none at all having reallocated those officers to fast response general units. In addition, the traffic flow responsibilities have been handed over to Highways Agency in England, not Scotland and not sure about Wales/N Ireland - and local parking enforcement decriminalised and handed over to local councils (agian not in all areas).
