That's salesmans spiel, a BHP figure means little to driveability unless you red line the thing all the time, its torque and when and how it arrives governs how tractable an engine is for general driving.
Try and track down that 1.0 litre engine in maybe another VW product if you can't find a Golf so equipped (strikes me as odd/convenient no demo available yet its just as good) and test drive the engine alone if you get what i mean, judge it for yourself on roads you choose.
I'm thinking of buying a Toyota Avensis 2006 Diesel, but the only reason why i'm not sure whether to buy it or not is because I don't know if all diesel have something called a DPF.

Do not ever buy a Toyota with the 2.0 liter diesel made bewtween 2005- mid 2009.

AIUI tl cameras are set to operate in respect of vehicles which cross the line after the light has gone red. As with speed cameras there's a tolerance margin so that in pratice there's a second or so of grace - but don't rely on it!!
I didn't see the flash of the one that caught me in Leicester although I'd previously been aware of it catching others.

Hi,
In the past few weeks, on 3 occasions, my EPC light has popped up on my dash, followed by my engine braking and coming to a halt. When I turn my car off and back on, the light has gone out and I can carry on as normal. I've just had a full service and nothing obvious has been picked up, as well as having my brake lights checked.
Am I right in thinking it could be to do with the brake light switch/sensor if the engine brake kicks in?

Brake light switch is a hot favourite here.Very common failure on VW models.It is a 2 stage switch ,one circuit for the brake lights and the other signals the engine control that the car is braking.
Every time a different person gets in the car and repositions the seat the airbag warning light appears on the dash, we have taken both seats out and rewired the plugs underneath but the light still keeps coming on, after about six starts the light goes out, the only problem is that this will happen as the mot tester gets in and moves seat so will be an instant failure, has anyone had this problem and found out how to sort it.

I mean the plugs that run under each seat, I removed the renault plugs and replaced with new terminals and durite plugs, this was some time ago, but the problem has come back, and although I have rechecked the plugs they seem ok, I think the problem may be elsewhere. but where I have no clue. the airbag light does not go out now, the service light is now also on!! They both go out on initial start up but come on again within a few seconds

Standard blades last a lot longer if A, you keep the screen and blades clean as mentioned above by Cyd, and B, when the blades are parked you lift them and lean then the other way now and again, that stops them juddering...for proof my lorry blades are 3 years old have done over 420 thousand k's and still clear the screen well.
GB, I'm obliged for your B tip, may cure my occasional judder. Respect for your 420,000 K in 3 years....
