If you have the old-shape A-class, this has more room than the 207, and the 307 is only a little bigger. A Focus estate should suit you if you prefer a Ford to anything Japanese: the Mondeo estate is quite a lot bigger. A Skoda Octavia estate is somewhere between the two.
jaguar x type owned since september 1st. on starting this morning there is a knocking sound which goes away when clutch depressed and comes back when clutch released, can someone tell me what this is. the car was purchased from a dealer and within 2 days the car was going into limp mode it went back to the dealer who apparently fixed it with a part of another jaguar returned after 3 days. the car was fine for roughly 7 weeks when it went into limp mode again at the same time starter was found to be faulty the dealer took the car back and replaced the turbo under warranty but charged us for the starter motor and labour they had the car for 4 weeks as they said there was a problem getting turbo fixed on warranty. eventually came back last wednesday all was fine (although hardly driven until yesterday) until this morning at 6.30 when the new noise occured. so 2 questions dod you think it's the clutch and does anybody have any idea where i stand legally ie can i ask for refund as since september 1st the car has been off the road for 33 days out of 98, no loan car offered also the car when we did have it was not used on a daily basis has my son sometimes has access to works van. any help greatly appreciated and sorry for long winded post. I seriously doubt whether you will have any legal recourse on this. It's more than 3 months since you bought the car and it sounds as if the dealer has been reasonably helpful up until now.
The symptoms you describe sound like the dual mass flywheel (DMF) has failed. This is one of the hazards of buying an older diesel model (possibly with high mileage?)....

Yeah !
Spent a long time saving up and I've ordered up a new fiesta. After waiting several weeks for a factory order went in to pick it up from the local franchised dealer.
On being show around the car, I came across a couple of small scratches. The dealer had no idea.
I usually buy cars outright and keep for many years. My last one did not arrive with any scratches.
As you can imagine I was not best pleased.
The dealer was very apologetic and offered to sort out the scratches.
The dealer did say that on the odd occasion new cars arrive from the
factory with a few marks (caused during transit) but they usually get
sorted out before the customer sees any damage.
I was offered some compensation but I was so annoyed
that I left and said I'd contact them when I've calmed down.
Just wondering has anyone else had these problems in the past?
What are my options?... Read more
Every so often, despite parking carefully away from the hordes, a ding appears in a door/wing.

When SWMBO's Saab was in for a service and MOT we were lent a Skoda Citigo. It was a 3 door with dairly basic spec, so suspect it was the 59 bhp version.

The new shape i10 looks like a real car from the outside, and the inside looks decent too. The previous i10 looks like a Noddy car, a nice car apparently, but not as good.
Look forward to your impressions....
When I bought my 2001 Focus estate it was fitted with summer tyres. In addition there were two wheels fitted with winter tyres. With knowlendge gleaned from this site that two winters don't go with two summers I bought two more winter tyres online, along with two more secondhand wheels from my local car dismantler. He fitted the tyres for a fiver each.
45,000 miles later, with winter approaching six tyres are now nearing the legal minimum it was decision time on what to do. As I'm planning to update the car in the not too distant future I took the decision to go with all season tyres. Four Vredestein Quatrac 3 were bought online for a total of £152, including delivery. My local tyre fitter wanted a total of £60 to fit all four tyres. A quick phone call revealed my local dismantler wanted £20 for the lot.... Read more
Part of my car buying research is what tyre sizes are fitted and how much they'll cost to replace, can't undertand people who go out and buy a car without checking anything then moan when they find out rubber is more each than you paid for the lot fitted..and certain maintenance items pricey enough to make a grown man cry.
Well trousered Trilogy, those Quatracs kept two daughters out of trouble for a good while, good value too.
I booked on airport car parking in advance and paid in advance, All well and good, Got confirmation, All well and good.
Changed our travel plans to travel a day later, but using the original ticket back so stayed within the period booked.... Read more
