Hi, can anyone explain why sometimes I get an email (expected) but when I go to open the attachment I get a blank page, with the word "Reader" at the top & I can't see what the sender has er! sent. PDF's no problem.

Had my clutch and gearbox oil changed on 61 plate Nissan Micra on Tuesday. Car been in family since new and only done 17,000 so really wouldn't have expected having to have a new clutch so soon, never had to have one before and all others cars done in excess of 70,00 miles and clutches still going strong.... Did they not replace the thrust bearing when changing the clutch?
All items should be replaced when the gerabox is seperated from the engine since the labour cost to replace these items is usually very high....

Just to update this, VW have now agreed to replace both sills and are taking away the old ones to carry out checks to find the problem. We are pretty happy with the result and will probably stick with the car now.
I had a problem at the end of last winter when idling. When the engine is turned on the revs fluctuate from around 2500 to 200 rpm, sometimes it stalls sometimes it sorts itself after leaving the engine to warm up.m this happened about 3 times last winter but spring came and the problem went away.
Now the weather is cold again the same problem has returned. I have to leave the engine running for 3 mins before the revs go to normal. I have checked for a vacuum leak but I cannot see or feel any issues with the pipe. I have been running the fuel down to nearly 0 for the past 18 months so I am thinking I may need to replace the fuel filter?
Anyone heard of this before on a relatively new polo?

As this is a temperature related issue,I would be more inclined to think this may be an engine coolant temp sensor giving incorrect info to the engine control unit.

I had a problem with my gear selection,when putting the car in gear and shifting up and down the gears changed but seemed to "catch" so the selection wasn't smooth.Also the car was lurching when releasing the clutch.Doing my research i knew i needed a new clutch and sure enough the mechanic said the clutch was very worn and could have gone anytime.However the problem with the gear shift continues.The lurch has gone and the clutch is easy to enage and disengage but i still have the annoying catch in the gear selection.
Do i have another problem.I am not mechanically minded by looking around i see the whole gear system is very complicated and involves many parts and linkages.Could something else need attention in the gear box (it doesnt crunch in gears though) or is it the clutch? Read more
If the gearbox has been removed as it would for a clutch change oil is lost when the driveshafts are taken out. if its still difficult to select the gears with the engine off I would suspect the gearchange cables need adjusting, it could be a gearbox problem but manual boxes are usually pretty well bombproof.
My Wife's 6 week old VW Blue GT - Sudden brake problems. The brakes feel " Grindy " and rough underfoot. The front offside disc is deeply scored while the front near side is flawless.
Visit to the Dealer who informs her that it's "Likely to be a stone" The service manager didn't drive it to test the braking himself. Could it be a fault with a sticky calliper piston.? I remain dubious that a stone jammed in the calliper could cause such scoring to a new cast iron brake disc.

Still the same issue, having driven it myself yesterday.Ragged it a little and it's plainly not right.I agree that it's likely to be a defective piston or calliper. Such a shame because it ruins otherwise such a fabulous little car.
Apparently it was road tested, at the very least I would of expected they take the pad out to take a look and inspect it or see if something's jammed tight in there.
So it's back to the dealer, who couldn't care less by the way.
Give them an opertunity to Fix it, then I will have it assessed independently. If there is an issue The car will be rejected. With brakes I feel that there is a fundamental duty of care to not only us but every one else out there should there be potential for a sudden brake failure. My fourth new VW and I have never had a problem before. Thanx everyone for the advice it's much appreciated.

Hi John, am glad i found you. i have a nissan Xtrail 2002, i changed the Air filter sensor not to long ago and after that it developed a problem. When i start, it goes off after a few second .after 3 4 times starting it starts , but the moment i engage in Drive or reverse it goes off. again you try 3 t o 4 times, then it engages and when it responds it is slow to pick up with a lot of misfiring there after it gets ok. i tried changing the plugs, cleaned the throttle body but all in vain. when put on a diagnostic machine no error is being recorded. Please advice.
