I was given a vehicle by my son which I parked on private land, I went on the DVLA website to put it on Sorn but it would not let me as it siad it was taxed until 01st Jan 2016, then I had first contact from the DVLA out of the blue demanding I pay a fine for not insuring my vehicle, I have wrote them explaining the situation, but they say im in the wrong, I have had two V5s sent to me where they have messed up the date when I was suppose to have registered it and prior they messed up the date on my sons V5 when he owned it, and despsite me having the vehicle in my name, it still wont let me put it on SORN and my son has recieved no refund! is this right? Watch out - this guy (OP) might be a spammer, given how similar his other post is.
I have Citroen Xsara 1.6 model 2000. For past few months there is strange noise coming from the front wheel. The noise increases with the car's speed and when I turn left while the noise fades away, while if I turn to the right the sound continues. It was suggested that it is wheel bearing noise from the left wheel so I replaced the wheel bearing for left wheel, but the sound continued. Then it was suggested to change the CV joint for left axle, I also replaced the whole driveshaft for left side, but the sound still continues and it is becoming weird day by day.
I just cannot understand what is this strange noise coming from.... Read more
Hi Bolt,
I had a thought of replacing right wheel bearing as well, but the earlier left hand bearing replacement took us almost 10 hours to replace as everything was badly jammed in there....
Hi everyone, t's me again!
Following on from the water sloshing incident which is slowly recovering thanks to your advice. I now have a different query.
So, I had the cambelt, water pump and associated bits changed and now the water sloshing noise has died down I have noticed that the engine is sounding different than before.. Slightly nosier when idle - tiny rattle, heard not felt. Noiser when accelerating up through the gears.
When starting the car from cold there is a very, very slight rattling sound emanating from the area they were working on. The rattle seems to settle down when it's warmed up. Since the change of belt and pump I have put about 7 miles on it. I wasn't sure if it could be:
1) 'imbedding noises' with it being new parts
2) just the way engines sound when you start to replace bit that were factory fitted standard ones
3) something else more worrisome
I'm taking the car back on Friday to get them to check it over and bleed the valves if still making the sloshing sound BUT as I've said in earlier posts I know nothing about cars and have been done over by many, many garages due to my ignorance so wanted to be armed with some knowledge about the 'maybe's'. The car is driving fine, aside from the slight sloshing.

Update on previous narrative. On running car at high revs the car does not misfire.Lower the revs to tickover and the engine warning light comes on and the car misfires.Anyone any ideas?? Read more
The problem is on this engine injectors are nearish to the valves so there is not much to leak (that would cause a misfire)
Could be injector of course ( & the seating of) , but I would still start with a compression test and still change the wasted spark coil pack that is a known weak spot of this engine
Thanks for advice
