Hi!

I've got the problem that sometimes only my Suzuki's dim- and headlights don't work. Similar thing with the whipers: first speed doesn't work but the faster speed does work. Those two things always happen at the same time while position lights, breaklights and indicator lights (basically anything else) keep working.... Read more

"Solved" the problem today. I tried replacing the relays, but that didn't work. A mechanic friend (who's in a different country though) told me to clean out the switch... so I finally found a place that wanted to do this for me (I don't have any tools).

But they ended up cleaning the whole switch, replaced a relay, replaced a fuse and (to be sure I guess) replaced the light bulbs. Now it works again - which I'm happy about. But because they simply changed everything we'll never know what the actual problem was :/...

Hi Guys,

I have an intermittant amber warning (Engine malfunction) which does not show on restart. I have no fault codes appearing when interrogating the ECU and the engine runs normally whether the fault indication is present or not. The only thing that does not make sense is the feedback from the manifold pressure sensor when the engine is static. The reading is -0.8Hg.this is a significant vacuum reading with engine at a standstill. Is this normal or is the sensor faulty?... Read more

Have you tried removing the pressure sensor and cleaning it? As it's so close to where the inlet trunk from the intercooler meets the manifold, it gets covered in a) oily residue from the intercooler trunking, from the small quantities of oil that's wept past the turbo seals and b) sooty crud from the EGR pipe.

It's definitely worth removing, giving it a good hose down with carb cleaner, and refitting.

Recently I've been unable to completely fill my fuel tank. It has a 52 Litre capacity and I would normally put 48 Litres in, this has been reduced to about 30ish Litres. The pump just cuts out after this no matter how slowly I put the petrol in. The fuel gauge will then show the fuel tank as full. As the fuel is used the dial goes down quicker. I’m guessing there is some kind of vacuum as when the petrol cap is loosened you can hear the air escaping. The only way I can get round this problem is to not completely tighten the petrol cap and this stops the vacuum. I’ve had a look at the fuel tank and it hasn’t collapsed.... Read more

Sounds like you have a fuel tank breather problem which you need to sort out. You can't get fuel into the tank if air can't get out. And if air can't get in then a partial vacuum will be created in the tank as fuel is drawn out by the pump. That's why you have the inrush of air when you remove the filler cap. This isn't restricted vehicle fuel tanks, it's basic physics.

Crank position sensor seems to be a regular problem on these, i`ve come across some that are causing problems at different air temps/engine temps

ie when the engine gets too hot as in traffic and you stop engine,go to restart and it turns over but wont fire, doing a live diagnostics proved the crank position sensor was not giving a signal, which meant you had no injection...

First hope I am not placing the post in a wrong place. Second I hope to offer some help for others. Here I want to talk about how to use VVDI2 to generate special chip for Buick Enclave, and how to use ND900 to recognize car key type.

Tools to use:... Read more

I am also in there and I learned a lot from them. One of my Iraq friend asked me to join them. Yes, VVDI 2 has all the functions of vvdi and Tango, it is wonderful. www.oobbdd.com/index.php?route=product/product&...e

Existing Type-Approved models get a 10-year exemption - that's the only reason Defender has kept going, for it the exemption runs out shortly.

Hi

I got my Mondeo TDCI 1.8 2009 fuel injector 1 replaced six moths ago after the car cutting out on the motorway. Roll on a few months and the same thing is happening, car cuts out and goes into limp mode. Brought it to Ford main dealer this time and he tells me the injector I got replaced is not the same class as the other three injectors.... Read more

If it ran OK for a period with the replacement injector I would not think that is the problem. I would trust a good diesel specialist over a garage anytime, they usually know what they are doing.

My car is 4 yrs old, low mileage, never had a problem. Went in for an MOT, came out with two warning lights (the brakes and EPC). Taken it to two specialist garages who read a faulty code yet have no idea how to fix it, apparently the car seems fine. One has just replaced the accelerator pedal (thinking it's the electrics inside that) but within 20 mins the problem came back. The car feels weak. The garage that did the MOT won't take responsibility also. I can't afford to replace parts on a trial and error basis. I need a Colombo of the VW car world to help me out here!! Read more

You need someone with VCDS to help you. Brake lamp switches have two sets of contacts. One for the brake lamps, and one for the ECM, so even if the brake lamps work it doesn't necessarily mean the switch is fully functional. VCDS will tell you if the switch is working or not. If the brake lamps are not working and the switch is the cause then it's likely that is your problem.
