2001 Suzuki Ignis 1,3 GL 5TG 4WD - light and whipers not working occasionally - preinzi

Hi!

I've got the problem that sometimes only my Suzuki's dim- and headlights don't work. Similar thing with the whipers: first speed doesn't work but the faster speed does work. Those two things always happen at the same time while position lights, breaklights and indicator lights (basically anything else) keep working.

It feels like this occurs when the car is cold and then after driving for a while the lights and whipers work again. I'm not entirely sure on that though...

I had a mechanik look at it and he thinks it's the relay that controlls those things. Says it gets hot also. Wires and voltage seem to be fine. He can't get hold of that part though, so that's why I'm here.

Can anyone confirm that it could be the relay? Because I'm pretty sure I'd find that part somehow... found another Ignis for breaking on gumtree for instance. But since I'm not a car mechanik, I'm not sure what to properly call that part and where exactly it is in the car. Any tips?

Regards,
preinzi

PS: I also called a Suzuki dealer, but their prices are ridiculous!

Are all these different functions controlled from the same switch stalk? Could just be that worn out or a bad connection on the multi plug.

"Solved" the problem today. I tried replacing the relays, but that didn't work. A mechanic friend (who's in a different country though) told me to clean out the switch... so I finally found a place that wanted to do this for me (I don't have any tools).

But they ended up cleaning the whole switch, replaced a relay, replaced a fuse and (to be sure I guess) replaced the light bulbs. Now it works again - which I'm happy about. But because they simply changed everything we'll never know what the actual problem was :/

at least it works!
