The roundabouts were like skidpans yesterday. Do insurance company records show claim spikes immediately after long dry weather? Should nanny state/met office warn people? Read more

Why are you so sure it was the Kumho tyres and not a couple of incidents where you hit some oil/diesel on the road.

If you read Leif's OP instead of being combative you'd see he seemed to have a genuine problem.

Hi all, this is my third clio and will be my 5th ABS issue.

Previous 4 have been repaired under warranty so I've no idea of cost to replace.

I suppose I'm asking whether there could be any nasty surprises other than the actual ABS ring.

Its the nearside one that's the issue - I've got wear to the outer rim of tyre too - its only done 4k and was changed at same time as offside tyre.

MOT in march - ball joints and all pads and disks done then.

Car is booked in tomorrow for diagnostic - any idea of labour charge and what kind of things I should be prepared for??

Ive read that the CV joint might need replacing?? Read more

Hi All

I have an '03 Ford Mondeo estate and need to replace two bulbs on the dashboard; one for the trip counter and one for the speedo (0-50mph does not illuminate, 60mph+ is fine).... Read more

I purchased an used Skoda Octavia Estate 58 plate from an approved Skoda garage in September 2014. Part of that purchase was a service and MOT contract (and as it trasnpires alongside this was a 1 year warranty on the car)

The car developed issues with its air conditioning during the summer of 2015, I took it into the dealer who service and re gassed, and it worked fine for a couple of weeks before stopping working again, when I took the car in for its MOT shortly after I asked them to have another look at the air conditioning, they did, stating the compressor was broken, and told me it would be £1234 to repair.... " I received a cheque in lieu of the good will claim (which obviously they had not cancelled) for the parts and 50% of the labour, simply banked it. Paid nothing and got cash back, brilliant."

"What conscience. VW had more money than me and every little helps."...

Hello All,

I'm wondering if anyone could help me with some information as I cant seem to find what I'm looking for anywhere. An employee was recently caught by the police driving dangerously, they had pulled out of a party (were not under the influence of drugs or alcohol) drove down a road with two 17/18 year olds in the boot of the car with the boot open, other people were in the passenger seats, with no lights on except the hazard lights, driving in the middle of the road and nearly hit an on duty police car. This was 9 days after completing a second speed awareness course. The officer was on his own but called in the incedent over his radio with the driver and car details, he said the driver would be expecting a court summons. A week later the employee said that the officer had called them up on the phone and said that he was not taking the case any further largely due to the fact that they had been polite and compliant. Nowhere can I find whether or not this is police protocall so would love it if someone could clear up for me if this could be a possibility or if the employee is likely lying and will soon be summoned to court. Thanks. Read more

These days, of course, the paper counterpart is obsolete. So you just require their consent - or them to do the check and provide you the 'check code' from DVLA.

To obtain the check code / view the licence, you require the driving licence number and home postcode (on the photocard) and the NI number....

Going boggle eyed trying to narrow this down and no site or app seems to able to help.
I'm looking for a seven seater with powered rear sliding doors and a decent boot with all 7 seats in place. Budget is 5-7K.
Further under 7 I keep the more I have for my estate car budget :)
Was thinking Mazda 5 and no Renaults, won't be bitten by that electrical gremlin again.
Another other cars ye all can think of?

Railroad.

'Mayo' as people call it under the oil filler cap is oil condensation, and is caused by the engine running too cool. The most likely reason for that is the car being used mainly for short local trips. It takes a minimum of 15 miles to completely warm a car up, and even more on a cold day. Predominantley short journeys will take it's toll in many ways on a modern car that will eventually lead to the engine management lamp coming on. I would suggest you use the car for longer journeys more frequently.

For radios whose Serial Number begins with an "M", followed by a six digit number, you can use the following link to work out what your Keycode should be:

Hello,

I'm in the process of trying to decide where to get a tow bar fitted. I will be pulling a trailer tent, probably unbraked and know very little about towing.

I spoke to the Seat dealer who quoted me 996.00 to have a tow bar fitted. There seems to be a few national firms who would do it for around 450, which is huge difference.

I'm am a little concerned about the effect on the remaining manufacturers warranty of having a 3rd party fit the towbar but 996 does seem excessive.

Does anyone have any recommendations or tips?

Best Regards

I had a tow bar fitted to my 2013 Seat Leon in June this year. Its for towing a 10 cwt box trailer for taking stuff to the tip while we are carrying out building work and collecting stuff from the merchants.

Went to our local tow bar specialists and after a little negotiation £250 all in fitted for a standard fixed type including single traditional 7 pin electrics which was all we needed for our trailer. All works a treat....
