Just purchased Peugeot 206 diesel from the roadside, stupid thing to do I know. Wednesday night purchased this car after driving it for 5 minutes and last night engine management light came on. Took it to the garage they said it could just be the tension needing tightening or a new timing belt, did I know when it was last changed. There's no history and the guy was a real dellboy with the chat, I actually nearly walked away when he told me who he knew and told him so, that's when he did shut up, The car has done 153k have tried the last owner but nobody is in. Hes obviously dealing as a trader cause that was the part missing from the logbook. The only thing I can do to save several hundreds of pounds is to change the timing belt, do I have any rights to ask him for some money for the bill. I got no receipt from the guy and paid cash. Dumbest thing I've ever done!! As I hate being ripped off by people who avoid paying tax and selling crap knowingly. Read more
Hi, I am new to the forum and have a problem with my Ford Bantam LDV. It has the Endura DE diesel motor and was running nicely when all of a sudden it became sluggish to start. I replaced the fuel lines to ensure that there is no air in the system, and also replaced the glow plugs. The motor then fired up immediately, but I then saw on a voltmeter that I had fitted on the glow plugs lead that the glow plugs do not switch off, and that the wiring to the glow plugs is getting very hot and starting to melt the insulation! I then disconnected the wiring to the glow plugs and ran a voltage test on it. When I swith on the ignition there is 12v current to the glow plug lead, and, as it should, it switches off after about 10 seconds, but now the radiator fan immediately starts up! I'll appreciate some help! Read more
Thanks Hardway, I'm going to try it,never thought of it was more thinking it could be a CPU problem. I even disconnected the wiring to the glow plugs and now run it via a pushbutton, but the fan still comes on.
Hi Everyone
Just wondering what the stance is on this? I have a Tracheostomy Ventilated 14 month old baby who we have to transport to appointments etc and has the potential to go into respiratory arrest at any point. For this reason I have purchased but not fitted yet some blue strobe lights. ... Read more

Your car is not recognising the chip in the key, have you tried a spare key,if this sorts it your key is at fault,if it is the same there is something wrong with the car and will need to go on a diagnostic machine to see what is wrong.
engine has a squeak that sounds like auxillary belt have changed all tensioners and the noise is still there it only does it when engine is cold when engine is warm it goes i suspect crankshaft pulley has anyone got any ideas thanks Read more
I've replaced them too. Another possibility could be the clutch release bearing. Eliminate that by disconnecting the clutch cable and move the release fork back. If the noise disappears then the release bearing is the problem. If it doesn't then it isn't.

Hi,
I've been offered the base model. No rear camera, no navigation, nothing fancy on 36 months,
In Seattle
$2500 upfront
$391/month.
10k miles.
Negotiated car price $33250.
Residual price $22,500
Do you think this is a good deal? I think I should put $1500 upfront at this monthly rate/put down $1500 and ask for $391
Hi,
I'm looking to see if anyone has experience/can offer any advice on my situation.... Read more
As has been said, your Insurance company are going to be paying otu a claim, so it'll be on your record and affect your NCD.
I assume that your policy covers the damage to your own vehicle. I can understand why you wouldn't want it written off, but deciding you won't claim for it alll and will repair it yourself seems a it extreme.

I have a Seat Leon 1598cc diesel first registered in May 2013, type approval e9*2007/46*0094*04. My daughter has a Volkswagen Golf with a similar diesel engine, first registered June 2014. I was expecting them both to be subject to the recall, but on checking the manufacturer's websites with the VIN numbers both vehicles are NOT subject to the recall. I was most surprised. Can anyone explain this? Both are DSG automatics. It seems we will both be missing out on compensation that could be in the order of £2k! Read more

What a disgusting money grabbing attitude. You should be pleased that neither of your cars has an issue and thus continue to enjoy the cars....

Buying any car at the roadside is pretty dodgy, but one with no history and >150K ? I hope it wasn't clocked .... :-)
But there certainly won't be any recompense. I presume you thought the deal was too good to be true - I hope it wasn't.
