It sounds to me like a clutch release bearing is failing. A mechanic at a decent garage should be able to help with diagnosing correctly. Note, decent garage does not equal main agent.

As to fix/costs, I'd seriously suggest leaving it until it fails. Which could be 2 days, 2 weeks ... or 2 years down the line.

My vote goes to the Suziki Swift. The 1.2 petrol engine can manage over 51mpg, and the newer Dualjet 1.2 can do 55mpg+ I believe. Read more

I would have said a year ago that electric cars should be more popular, but now they are rapidly gaining popularity.

They have sold about 7,000 up to September 2015 - think they have a long way to go before they can be seen as popular....

I have just bought my son an 03 plate Fiesta 1.4 Zetec. It has had a recent new battery and the radio/CD will not now work without the code. The manuals/paperwork supplied with the car do not record this. Ford want £25 to supply the code!! Does anyone have the keycode please? The radio serial no. is M038375. Read more

For radios whose Serial Number begins with an "M", followed by a six digit number, you can use the following link to work out what your Keycode should be:

So I'm buying a new family estate. As we only do cca. 15k kilometres per year and have many short trips (20km to work), diesel is not an option so we're looking at 1.2THP 130 (230nm) and 1.0 eco 125 (170nm).

I've driven THP and I like it, I have yet to drive ford.. I'm a bit sceptical about 170Nm.... Read more

Hi all, bit of a curious one (for me at least). I went with the wife earlier to look at a Grand C4 58 plate. Car generally drove fine but I got some odd feelings from the seller (sort of a dealer, though most cars are <£1k and he wants paying in cash).

Firstly, he showed me the service history. The first service showing was in 2012 with around 20k miles down. From then it did around 8-10k miles every six months or so and was now at 78k miles. Fairly explainable in itself and it least it was some service history. I asked near the end if he'd done a hpi check as it's fairly standard. He said no, then said these cars are all from the Ford showroom up the road and they'll have it and then said oh, it's cheap and easy to do. Why didn't you do it then?... Read more

On first reading the odd bit for me is a 58 (Sept 08 to March 09yes?) plate being on a Laguna that was written off in 2006. That cannot happen

So does it mean the Picasso previously had a personal plate, replaced on 21/04/15 with a standard 58 plate and that the personal plate, now persumably on some other car, had previously been on a written off Laguna. ...

He promised a cheque, then when I threatened court he promised a backs payment, when that didn't happen he contacted my wife and promised her a backs payment !!!! This guy never answers his company phone, his mobile phone, his e mails or his faxes !!!!

What you think we should do as this has been going on since mid August !!!! Read more

Following the news of my 530 D been written off I have found a 525 D Estate with 159k on.
It's a 2002 in lovely condition.

I,m getting it checked especially the automatic transmission but I notice from the car by car guide that it's possible to check for swirl valves by feeling for a metal rod under the black plastic air intake tube.

However when I asked a specialist to do the same check on my old 530 D he claims to have taken the inlet manifold off.

Is the car by car advise correct ? Read more
