Could someone point me in the right direction? I would like to replace the radio in my 2007 Renault Megane with a DAB one. Can I just stick any double din radio in, or do I need a specific one? Read more

I have read this and other motoring websites and now from having a fair idea of what we are going to get I am now totally terrified of buying anything as the litany of problems and issues with almost anything available is very offputting.....
We are going to have to get a new, larger car due to the second baby coming as the Fabia is far to small. We don;t have a lot of time to look for or at anything so there is the risk of ending up with something rubbish simply because we are in a rush.... Read more
If you don't mind the van like appearance then the Citroen Berlingo or Peugeot Partner are worth a look. In the UK the car versions are branded Multispace and Teepee respectively. Don't know if they're marketed same way in Hungary!!
Basically a big boxy estate car with three full rear seats and sliding doors - which are great when dealing with kids. My offspring are far too old to need such things but I think it will take two 'Isofix' kiddy seats. ...

On the 3rd September 2015 my husbands landrover disco2 was hit by a DPD lorry. It took the front bumper, wing mirror, gash down the side. Its all repairable. This is what was sent from the gentleman who had a dash camera who stopped to help us(if you would like to view it please let me know)... Read more

My daughter bought her first car 8 weeks ago, after months of searching for her perfect car. She bought it for a good price, much less than it was advertised for, and the exact make, model and colour that she wanted. She took it to university and kept in park at the halls private car park.
2 weeks ago the uni bus reversed into it, caving in the 2 rh side panels. Our garage put this in the hands of Kindertons who have liaised with the bus company's insurance. They have just said that the car is uneconomical to repair, and have offered us a figure which is just less than we paid for it. Fair enough she has had a few weeks driving it, and has added a few miles, but we cannot find an equivalent car for the amount they are offering. There just aren't any for sale for the price.
We have been told if we want a higher amount we have to send copies of current adverts for the equivalent car from private sellers, we can't because there aren't any! Proving how much we paid for it won't help, because we got it for a good price!
My question is should we take the money and get another car with higher mileage, or should we buy her car for the salvage value and get it repaired, probably having some extra money in the bank after doing this, however because the car will then be a cat d they resale value will be less, and her insurance premiums will go up. In the meantime she doesn't have a car!
It doesn't seem fair that she is the person suffering through no fault of her own, advice needed please! Read more
"If we take the offer, buy it back, have the work done we could be around £1k better off, but I suspect that the insurance will go up, and the resale value will be less, so probably worse off in the long run."
Possibly not. If you run the car till it dies, the resale value is irrelevant....
I have a six year old Sebring, obviously an American car where I believe it's mandatory to have tyre pressure monitoring systems. Anyway about 2 years ago when I needed to replace all 4 tyres on top of a service, I decided not to have all the TPMS sensors refitted due to the ridiculous cost of parts and labour ( at a guess £600 to replace all 4). I thought I could use the old fashioned, well tried and tested method of checking tyre pressures regularly!
However as a result of taking the sensors out I have had a warning light permanently on since then, a fact I chose to live with at the time. However I believe that warning light will now be an automatic MOT fail due to changes in MOT rules.
I suppose my questions are:
Is it fair to have an MOT fail on the basis of a system I no longer have and took out before the rules changed? Is this challengeable?
Does anybody know whether it is possible to turn off the warning light? Other forums I've read suggest not on the basis that this is a mandatory requirement in America, although I did find a website that showed how to do it on the similar Chrysler Crossfire (although not similar enough, the relevant wiring was not in the same place on my car!).
Finally it seems ridiculous to have to spend £600 on a car worth a little over £1000 just to keep it on the road! The car is running perfectly well and always has, however I was planning on upgrading over the next year,
I now won't be able to sell it as its not legal!
Any thoughts appreciated Read more
I thnk you will find that the regs for tpms system only applies to vehicles used on/after jan 2012.www.gov.uk/government/publications/car-parts-check...t

I agree with the Toyota Celica route, sensible choice and should be reliable if it's not been 'Kev'd'.
How about a nice Ford Cougar 2.5 V6 if you're feeling brave?
Just wondering if anyone knows how to remove this type of headlight bulb. It looks like it just pulls out, but I've been unable to remove it from the plastic holding when I've tried before. I don't want to try with too much force in case I break it!
Ah okay. So it's just a simple case of it clipping into the plastic holder
A double din radio will fit with the correct mountings and fittings. You will need to get the wiring altered for correct operation. Also you will lose the head up radio info display.
