I bought a second hand corsa a few weeks back. After a week the engine blew due to no water ive replaced the engine with a new one as i really like the car. The issue is it still loosing water the garage has had it and says its something to do with the pressure. Whats happening is after Ive driven the car and i park up and turn off the engine the water bubbles up and overflows out the water expansion tank. (I think thats what its called). Ive ordered a new cap just incase thats damaged as the spring looks abit dodgy to me. Every car Ive had has always made a hissing sound due to the release of the pressure this dosent hence im getting the cap just incase.
First the garage said it was the water pump but when they went to replace it said it wasnt so didnt replace it. He has said its not the head gasket. ... Read more
I'm thinking about an MX5 mark 3, folding tin top, 6 speed, 2.0.
I consider a car to be a bike accessory - we often carry 2 to 7 bikes - clearly 2 would be the max in a 2 seater car !!... Read more

Took my 2012 Cx-5 into Watford Mazda for service just prior to warranty expiry a few months back, and asked them to investigate a whine from the transmission. They couldn't identify a fault. My guess is someone slipped up and they didn't road test it. Took the (out of warranty) car to my local garage last week and asked a mechanic to drive it, as I was convinced there was a problem. He confirmed this. The car has done 34,000 miles.
Went back to Watford Mazda who gave it the onceover again, accepted that there was a problem and contacted Mazda UK. Diagnosis... it needs a new gearbox.... Read more
I don't think its common as i've been using a US mazda forum now for about three years, in fact i've just ordered the auto, but i've found this on the Mazda247 cx-5 forum.
My daughter was recently involved in a non fault accident and her insurance company Zenith arranged a replacement car for her through a company called CCL which they said was normal practice in non fault accidents. When the car was delivered we were surprised that it was a new Mercedes C class. As it was such an expensive car she phoned her insurance company to check there was any possibility she would be liable for the costs of the replacement car and was told there wasn't, that CCL would recover the costs from the third party. She was not asked to sign anything on delivery of the car and was not given a copy of terms or conditions. After she had driven the car for 12 days she was sent a hire agreement to sign. The costs of hire were £1,200 per week and the terms stated that she would be liable for these if they were unable to recover costs from the third party! She immediately phoned CCL and said she wasn't willing to sign this and so wanted the car returned, and Hertz collected the car the following day. (CCL are a Hertz company!) As her own car is only worth £4-5,000 we didn't think the third party would agree to such excessive hire costs in addition to vehicle repair costs. CCL have now threatened legal action against her if she does not pay £2,361 for the 13 days she drove the car, unless she signs the agreement which could also make her liable for these costs which she cannot afford to pay.
Can anyone please give any legal advice? Read more
As concrete says, you deal with your insurer;
Go back to them, find out who arranged the car. Demand to know why they organisaed such an expensive car. Demand to know why they told you that you would not be liable (I hope she got a name, but if not just make sure you know time/date. They'll probably have a record)....
hello all,
today i was stopped by two policmen for Driving a car without MOT. the system which they were using (DVLA) showed that the MOT expired on Aug 2015.However when i purchased the car (2 oct 2015), i had done a new MOT which expires on oct 2016. So i handed them the MOT certificate but they said that it looked suspicious and for the fact that their system showed it as Expired, they would had to rely on that information. They took my driving license details and also Jot down the whole event and then made me sign a paper which looked just like a normal notpade. after that i was told that there has been no arrest and i am free to walk out of their car. ... also when i go to the dvsa website to check my MOT status, it shows expired ... probably thats the reason why its not showing on the police system... however when i call them up, they tell me that the MOT is due on 3rd oct 2016 :S
My engine is one affected by the emissions issue. In view of the fixes likely to be offered by VW, I would like to know (a) will it be compulsory to have the software/engine fix applied and (b) does the current set-up cheat UK MOT emissions checks? Read more

Seen online a September 2011 21,000 miles E350Cdi Estate. Serviced three times by a Mercedes main dealer (at 5,500miles, 110,500 miles and 16,500 miles), almost unmarked. It is a colour and interior trim combination that I really like.
It's not too far from home that I can't go and have a look and the price appears to be pretty good. Based upon my previous experience of trying to buy one of these earlier this year, I will be looking carefully for non-approved bodywork repairs. ... Read more
Yes - the local Mercedes dealer to me quoted £885 for the four year B service. It is being done by the Merc dealer who has worked on the car since day 1 for about £550.
As HJ points out, the MOT history of all vehicles is now online.

I had a look at some of mine the other day. quite interesting as it shows reasons for failure and also advisories too.
I took one of my cars for MOT yesterday, it's 13th MOT and never had an advisory or failure.
Car is being held illegally and racking up £35 a day storage charges!
I was involved in an accident just over a month ago where a truck side swiped me and took me off the road. It is clearly the fault of the truck driver and they have admitted full liability. I then took the car to a body shop garage that is next to my mechanic and since I trust and value the work of my mechanic I thought I would get similar treatment at the body shop. This wasn’t the case.... Read more
Surely the police would be interested in them fruadlently producing paperwork that they say I signed.
