Mazda CX-5 - Auto gearbox failure on Mazda CX-5 AWD Sport Nav - keefyyp

Took my 2012 Cx-5 into Watford Mazda for service just prior to warranty expiry a few months back, and asked them to investigate a whine from the transmission. They couldn't identify a fault. My guess is someone slipped up and they didn't road test it. Took the (out of warranty) car to my local garage last week and asked a mechanic to drive it, as I was convinced there was a problem. He confirmed this. The car has done 34,000 miles.

Went back to Watford Mazda who gave it the onceover again, accepted that there was a problem and contacted Mazda UK. Diagnosis... it needs a new gearbox.

I was expecting the usual hassle/argument.... but no.

Mazda UK will replace the gearbox next week under warranty, at no charge.

Makes a pleasant change!

I don't think its common as i've been using a US mazda forum now for about three years, in fact i've just ordered the auto, but i've found this on the Mazda247 cx-5 forum.
