Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate E350CDi - Thinking of buying a - Happy Blue!

Seen online a September 2011 21,000 miles E350Cdi Estate. Serviced three times by a Mercedes main dealer (at 5,500miles, 110,500 miles and 16,500 miles), almost unmarked. It is a colour and interior trim combination that I really like.

It's not too far from home that I can't go and have a look and the price appears to be pretty good. Based upon my previous experience of trying to buy one of these earlier this year, I will be looking carefully for non-approved bodywork repairs.

Does anyone have any knowledge about other things to look for on this model?

I'd be very cautious about the DPF on a diesel car which has covered such low mileage, no matter the make. The DPF will most likely NOT be covered by the MB approved cars warranty either, but only the full policy documents will tell you for definite.

Whatever you do, if you ask the saleperson if the DPF is covered and they say 'Yes', ask them to put that in writing and sign it.

Yes I am aware of that, but my previous experience with my SMAX of less than 10,000 miles pa was positive in that regard. Are MB service histories on a system? I drive down past a dealer each day.

MB will be able to provide a full service history from their central database.

Got that now. All sounds good. The story checks out and we have agreed an allowance for the next service which is expensive and in two months time.

Every E class service will be expensive!

If you take delivery use the Mercedes "myservice" system to shop around for service quotes and get a local dealer to match, its surprising how much different dealers charge for the same jobs.

Yes - the local Mercedes dealer to me quoted £885 for the four year B service. It is being done by the Merc dealer who has worked on the car since day 1 for about £550.
