I have a Vauxhall Zafira 1.9 CDTI Sri.

Does the price sound about right? £520 for parts and £300+ vat for labour?

It's around what my son had to pay - but I don't know if other work was included.,

The Consumers’ Association (Which?) seem to have taken a stance on car fuel consumption and emissions. In articles, campaigns and petitions the implication seems to be that the difference between “claimed” figures and “real life” values is down to car manufacturers .

Our Merc E280 with 05 plate FSH, one year's MOT 62,000 miles has displayed a warning light which the local dealer has diagnosed as the dreaded sprocket problem. He has offered to rectify it for £3,000. I am really shocked that Mercdes should a) be so incompetent as to make this serious mistake - the metallurgy required for gear wheels is not exactly a new subject and b) offer no help whatsoever in curing the problem.

The much vaunted German engineering prowess has certainly taken a hard knock recently. Read more

Lots of information on this issue on MBClub UK forum and slkworld.com.

The balance shaft sprocket issue affected the 3.0 and 3.5L V6 petrol engines (280 and 350 models) of all MB cars including E, CLK, SLK plus a few C, ML, SL and S models manufactured between approximately 2004 and 2007....

I have had a Tiguan emission upgrade carried out twice causing rattling noises at low revs, I cancelled an order for a new Tiguan and have lost my deposit as the dealer says it is VW fault
Not there's. VW say it is dealers responsibility to reimburse me. Never buy a VW after sales and pending sales service stinks. Read more
