Hi all,
I've suddenly noticed that when driving above 2k RPM, my car expereinces intermittent power loss. When keeping the accelerator level, the car jerks about, as the power drops and rises. This power drop/increase gets worse as I drive faster. I've also noticed that there is a suction noise when putting my foot down, which I'm assuming is the air intake.... Read more

I don't know why I thought they had been privatised!
Probably because they're greedy, corrupt, and careless in a way made common by privatised utilities....
With your indulgence HJ

Had to thank Scargill IMHO a poor leader for he paid for my FarEast holiday
Typical of the attitude of most of the Met police at the time. Add to that waving their pay slips at the pickets did not do anything to promote the idea that the Police were only there to prevent trouble and allow miners who wished to work to do so. Theses actions only added to the tension and clearly showed what the actual agenda was....
where do i find the relay for tjhe cooling fan??
Had the same thing on the OH's 2004 A3 1.6 Sport.
Simple fix, it was the temperature sensor, less than a tenner on Ebay (the part number is on the part)....
Has anyone resolved the issue of the loss of power problem which seems to affect the 320d e46 .
There are a lot of discussions but they seem to die off and no one ever seems to give an answer as to if the car was sorted and why. ???? Read more
I have an EML and ABS light on this car and would like to buy the software or code reader to read, diagnose and reset these codes but haven't got a clue on which one to get.
Any advice gratefully received! Read more
Why not ask around on the VW forums to see if there's anyone local with VAGCOM?
Like elekie&a/c doctor says, you'l struggle with cheapo code readers....
.Is this really true?
There are also administration fees and it's worth noting that until the final payment has been made, you won't own the car – or be able to sell it, unless the lender agrees. ... Read more
Not true - involving the finance company in any dispute over repairs generally speeds up the process
They might speed up disputed warranty repairs but as for paying for repairs out of warranty that is the owner/users responsibility....
I have put down a deposit on a white Ford Fiesta Titanium X that is currently in Spain in the holding compound - it's NOT a factory order. I was happy that things were muddling along until yesterday when I got an email from my local nameless dealer (suffice to say, they are large) saying that I needed to go in, finalise the finance paperwork (they've already done the proposal and that's been accepted - for a very small amount so I only went down this route to get the savings) and pay the full balance BEFORE even seeing the car. I know there has been another post about this so apologies for reposting but we're a few years on now and I'm wondering whether things have changed? I'm extremely reluctant to give these guys any more of my hard-earned cash - they already have my deposit of £500 paid over the phone on a CC. Am I quite within my rights still to insist on payment on collection with a debit card having very closely scrutinised the car (it's brand new) and had a test drive in it? If the company went belly up between me giving them wads of cash and me getting my car, I'd be in trouble wouldn't I - in terms of getting my money back, especially if paid on a debit card? I'm in two strong minds to walk away from this deal, even if it means me losing my deposit - I don't really want to deal with sharks like this. To add insult to injury, I'm an existing customer of theirs and they didn't even apologise when, as a member of their Saturday club (essentially, I get my car valetted every month), their cleaning sub-contractors didn't admit to removing paint from my car in the process of washing it! The dealer did fix it, reluctantly at their expense (well, covered by the paint protection policy) but not a word of apology from anyone - and it was definitely the cleaning guys that did it as I inspect my vehicle before and after such things and usually photograph it! I think I should never have gone back to them - I'm sure not all dealers in this group are the same, in fact, I know they're not as I had visited another one and they seemed far nicer and more professional! Perhaps one day I will learn!! Read more

Please help. Occasionally my Saab gets very Smokey and its smells quite acrid. Then engine not shambles and the revs are slower to die down. After about 5 to 10 mins it clears and goes back to normal. No smoke and engine note back to normal. I don't know if my car has a dpf. If it has could it be regen?

Many thanks for the reply. I know that some Saabs around this reg didn't have a dpf but not sure about mine. Would there be any indication on the dash to say its regen? Would a sticky egr cause a Smokey engine? I am mechanically minded but more petrol (motorcycles). Many thanks.
I would like some help on what my options are:
11 months after purchasing my brand new car from Ford there was a major coolant leak which led to the engine having to be replaced (it took 7 weeks to fix). This was due to a faulty coolant pipe, and it was fixed under warranty.... Read more
Your position is exactly the same as it was a few days ago : they take it in, (hopefully) fix it, and give it back to you.
If anything, this latest breakdown gives you a bit more ammunition for getting a cheaper (or free) extended warranty from Ford, if you decided to go down that route....
Check for air leaks between the turbo and the inlet manifold, especially around the intercooler. Also check for any restrictions in the air intake between the air filter box and the turbo. Make sure the air filter element is clean and not full of dust and dirt. Check the EGR valve to make sure it's not stuck open, even partially. If it is then the engine will draw back too much exhaust gas, and this will affect engine running and performance.
