I had contaminated fuel in my tank and the vehicle started to lose power. I had my fuel tank drained a few times and each time it got a little better, it then got to the point where the car would struggle to get to 60mph and would shake violently when going up steep hills.
I then got my tank taken out and completely cleaned along with all the fuel lines and a new filter, the mechanic said he now thinks the problem could be the fuel pump that is in the tank and is the only one the vehicle. He could not order a new pump as the chassis number could not be found on the system, so I had to take the vehicle to a Mitsubishi garage and the fault codes they picked up were to do with the glow pugs and he told me that was that was to do with the lack of power and not the fuel pump, he also did not test the pump as he said he would.... The problem hs been progessive over a few years and after long drive from Germany to the UK, it was the final straw for the car. The symptoms are as follows;

I need to replace the injector seals on my old Zafira. The haynes manual suggests I will need a tool to remove the injectors. Is that correct or not necessary? Quite happy to buy a tool if required! Read more
If I recall,no special tools needed,but you do need to lift a camshaft for access.
Just saw HJ on the six o'clock news discussing the VW debacle!
I had previously thought that he only existed in a different dimension or was CGI :-))... Read more

I've got a Grand C-Max 1.6TDCi that's got a vibration issue that the dealer can't reproduce, but which happens reasonably frequently.
The car has now done around 4,000 miles, and was bought brand new several months ago.... Read more

I'm used to the smaller motorway signs (that show a 2 digit speed limit) being left on for weeks but this week showed how useless the big overhead gantry signs are (at least around here)
Major traffic problems around the western bypass, with queues on the A1 stretching back miles. I passed two of the signs, one said 'Please take your litter home' and the other big one simply advertised the fact that the Rugby was coming to St James Park in October.... Read more

"URGENT - ALL AUDI DRIVERS LEAVE MOTORWAY AT NEXT EXIT" ?
Having a run in with Ford over very poor service. I have had the car from very nearly new (2800 miles and 4 months old). It has had 3 dealer services at 12500 mls, 25000mls and 37500 mls. On at least 2 of these services, I have pointed out that the car squats oddly on a hill start, and that I suspect the handbrake is not set up correctly. Nothing was found. Fast forward to it's first MOT, the car failed on handbrake innefective on nearside rear. Imagine my horror to discover the handbrake cable is not and never has been connected to the nearside rear calliper ! I took photo's, and took the car back to my local dealer, after an argument,they connected the cable and tested it then returned the car. It failed the MOT retest, again nearside handbrake ineffective! I paid the MOT station to sort it, £24 and it is now working correctly! I am really angry because Ford Customer Relations is kissing me off! I have now passed it to trading standards, as I think it's a safety issue! A PDI and 3 full Ford services and at no point did they pick up the fault! Even Worste, when I showed the dealer the pics and fault they did half the job and gave it back connected but unadjusted! Anyone any ideas on my next move? Read more
It's truly shocking that the problem was not diagnosed and resolved first time around, take it to watchdog and ask them to investigate in case it's a common problem with other Focus cars .. if nothing else the thought of bad publicity might just spur someone into action.
Brand spanking new, or perhaps a 3 to 4 month old "rejected" model, as it seems like quite an appropriate time to drive a hard bargain.

Hmmm what if VW are compelled to make any already sold cars affected compliant with the standards by running proper tests and reprogramming them to render them legal? You might then buy a car that can no longer give the sort of performance you have come to expect. If the figures quoted in the press for the extent to which the cars are non-compliant may well be considerable and there might be a very noticeable effect on performance if they are put right. On the other hand there may be a fudge if it's too big an issue to fix properly (especially if other manufacturers are also found to be fiddling the tests too) so anyone buying a rejected VAG Diesel might get a bargain but it seems an expensive gamble to me.
Hi all,
I bought a 2007 Freelander 2 from my local maindealer for Landrover last November. When I bought it I was assured as I had put down a decent dposit and he car was v low mileage (even now only 58000) I woudl never be in negative equity and if my circumstances were to change they would buy it back as they had sold it to the oe previous owner. I have just been made redudnact and need to cut back all my monthly ependiture and associated risks so called them this week but they didnt want to buy back but gave me a dealers number who does their PX cars. He has quoted me without seeing the car a price thats £1700 less than the outstanding HP and just says he hears the same story all the time but thats all he can do. I think I could get close to the outstanding amount as a private sale but woudl then need to settle the finance first. The car is due tax and MOT at end of October and probably could do with new tyres over the winter so I dont know whether to just accept I was stitched up in the first place adnd cut my losses or perseve and hope that theres no big bills. The Landrover warranty runs out also at end of October and Im just scared that something big might happen. I can borrow another car occaisonally and will likely be going into a job with a company car in the next few months so wouldnt be keeping it long term anyway. Any ideas anyone? I dont want to just be ripped off again on top of everything ! Thanks Read more
Hi thanks for the feedback. I can keep up the payments but I just worry that something expensive may go wrong during the time I keep it plus its got the MOT and Tax coming up at end of Oct plus probably new set of tyres soon which arent cheap.I dont know what the depreciation might be in 3 months time, Im aiming to go into my new job in Dec/January which will come with a company car. Theres no sign of anything obvious to drive but given how reliable the dealer has been and also I had to pay out for new brakes and discs a few months after buying it (which funnily enough werent covered under the landrover warranty as wear and tear even though must have known about it when sold to me). I trusted the LR dealer as had company cars serviced there before and the service part was always excellent but feel just completely ripped off by sales after this and will never be going back.
Only buy if your a dab hand with VAGCOM and know where you can source spares cheaply. They're all obsolete Euro 4-5 diesels too
