How long does it take to flatten the battery? Is this a known fault?

Fans controlled by the ECU,

So a diagnostic session would needed.

Had the same thing on the OH's 2004 A3 1.6 Sport.

Simple fix, it was the temperature sensor, less than a tenner on Ebay (the part number is on the part).

It sends lots of info to the ECU, worth a try.
