The Central locking is not working on the drivers door. I can only get the door to lock by using the dead lock button. Also the door won't open using the fob, I have to open the door from the passenger side using the handle. The lock is a hands free with dead locking. Any info on this problem on how to fix would be appreciated. Read more
Hi I'm after some advice if anyone can help I have a mondeo 2.0 tdci 2003 and I'm having trouble finding the cause of this problem. The engine is sweet as a nut however low revs there's no power upto the turbo which kicks in at 2500 rpm anything before this there's nothing any ideas. Thanks in advance. Sam Read more
I've just had a look on another forum and apparently some models didn't have a maf sensor and was something to do with the type of turbo so that explains there being no wiring to back up it up thanks
Now that we have a soft top as a second car (after the fiasco of trying to hire a car for 6 weeks and then deciding to buy a cheap car, ending up with a convertible CLK for £2500) I thought I would start a thread on soft top motoring.
I had an x19 many years ago, but the CLK is more open to the elements, although info feel a bit exposed driving through town! So far I have gone everywhere with the roof down, and hopefully the novelty won't wear off, my son is certainly happy when I do the school run!
Has anyone had their roof down through the winter? I have often thought that soft tops should have an automatic function where the roof goes down its not raining. It seems a shame to leave the roof up.
And what about leaving the roof down when parked? I have so far, but it's only been outside school and in quiet suburbs visiting the elderly. I might change my mind the first time I park it in a multi storey, although that may be more secure (CCTV etc).
I would be interested to hear of others experiences of soft top motoring, so far I can't see much of a down side (although I do need to buy a sun hat!).
(As a footnote, the CLK so far seems as good as it first seemed, drives really well, no odd noises, 30mpg, and everything works as it should) Read more
Many thanks for the update. I hope you're having a rest this week; I certainly am after playing the organ for five carol services and a midnight Communion!
Touching wood, you seem to have struck lucky with the CLK and got a good one. People often come on here asking for advice on what car to buy for the sort of amount that you paid. I tend to play safe and often suggest a Toyota (your other, newer, car if I remember right). But it's a thought, isn't it - more of a gamble to do what you did, but getting a good quality car that's been looked after, and is also fun to drive, has a lot to be said for it.
Some help please - anybody! Got a basic '93 Corsa 1200 worth nothing on paper, but actually straight as a die, rust free, 70k etc etc. It starts and runs perfectly all the time with no performance problems I can detect, but when properly hot after 10 miles or so, if stalled or switched off will not even try to fire unless it's cooled for a few minutes. I've changed the ECU temperature sender, the coil, the ignition amplfier and the distributer (with the hall effect dectector within). There seems to be spark at the plugs.. So are there any fuel system or any other components that could do this? Read more
OK I'm open minded: I think I've got a spare pump, I'll change it and see if that makes a difference. Check spark again.
Thanks all.

After reading the initial test drive here and on other sites, I am a bit bemused at the market that Honda are trying to reach with the new Type R. I remember a few years back even thinking about getting a new mk1, given it was only £2-3k more than the not-very-warm-but-nice 3dr 1.6 Sport (which sort of looked like a Type R without the performance) at a rather expensive (I thought at the time) £14.5k compared to the cheaper Mazda 3 I finally plumped for.
The new one is almost twice as much as the mk1 from 9 years ago, and yes, its much faster round the Nurburgring, but how many people buy a Honda just to do that? The mass-appeal of the original was amazing (a lot of bang for your buck) - they sold shedloads of them in the UK - personally I can't see Honda shifting many with those looks, likely very hard ride and the hefty price-tag, a bit like the Ford Focus RS. Its almost a touring car with a number plate. It doesn't help when both VW and Audi have still-very-fast but more civilised (for day-to-day use) alternatives. Anyone wanting a proper track-day car will either use whatever is at the track (rather than shell out £30k for a car they would use a hanful of times a year) or buy a proper sportscar instead. I wholeheartedly agree - the Leon SC FR 1.4 TSi ACT is in my view the 'spiritual successor' to the original Civic Type R - great to look at and to drive, not over-the-top 'lairy' looks and good value. If VAG can just fix the gremlins that they and other group stablemates share, then I would be considering one. Saw a lovely one outside my home yesterday. Nice.
My Focus (Getting old 132,000 miles) loses power when driving up hill on motorways. It just cannot sustain speed (down to 60mph from 70/75mph). If I try to increase the throttle the temperture gauge rises quickly, but returns back to normal as soon as I take my foot off the throttle. I've had the car from new for 14 years and really has had very little problems, still has original exhaust, battery, clutch etc. Good car but now getting dangerous when overtaking uphill.
Any one had similar problems and how did it get fixed? Read more
Sounds like it could be a coolant flow problem, possibly stat or a partially blocked rad.Engine control system is able to change strategy and reduce power so as not to toast the engine.Another possible is the start of head gasket failure.A chemical sniff test should help here.

Thanks for the information
