Pay me £150 for the day and i'll drive it there for you...sound fair enough?

I think as lots of people have already said (including me in another thread) nothing major will happen, once your in top gear and steadily cruising along the motorway/dual carriageway etc the clutch isn't doing anything...so it wont fail during this time....

Car starts fine, stopped at junctions or parked after driving very shaky idle. Burning smell after driving. Loss of power when driving and also when pulling away, can be driving along at 40mph then speed suddenly drops to 20mph without taking foot off pedal. Constant feeling of being pulled back whilst driving. Pulling away at junctions and roundabouts complete nightmare, as if 2nd gear doesn't exist. No acceleration, no revs, car just trundles along, have to drop back to 1st and over rev to get it moving. Drives better at 40mph in 3rd gear than it does in 4th.Only bought it on thursday, taking it back this thursday to have 'checked over' by dealership. Have read it could be Coil Packs or MAF and a friend mentioned could even be the clutch?? Read more

A coil pack fault will also cause a misfire and result in a very hot catalytic converter, which might account for the burning smell. It will also do the cat in eventually.

Can someone tell me if it is lawful for a driver, when crossing a dual carriageway, to cross one carriageway and then, instead of waiting for a suitable space in lane 1 (The "slow lane"), to drive into lane 2 (The "fast lane") and accelerate whilst cars are overtaking in lane 1. This happens repeatedly at a number of junctions on the A90 which I use on my way to work and I find it so unsafe when drivers pull onto lane 2 and stay there while traffic passes on their near side.

I used to travel this road when I worked in Aberdeen for a while. It is a nightmare of a road with frequent junctions to cross the dual carriageways. All you do is defensive driving. Extreme caution when approaching junctions and looking out for potential problems. Needs some decent road engineering to make it safer. That was a few years ago so it seems the problem persists.

Their is a smell of rubber or burning type smell when starting car in morning asnd running engine for about five minutes. The rubber smell is there before I drive the car.

I noticed the rubber smell after I had a new Cat exhaust fitted to the Rover car and not before the cat exhaust was fitted.... Read more

I had an RTA collision around 12 months ago when hit in the rear by a third party vehicle. All the repairs were dealt with and no claims bonus reinstated.

I have a 54 plate colt epuippe. Whilst driving the engine light came on and after a few seconds the coolent light came on as well. At the same time as the coolent light the engine shudders and the revs go up and down. Its very easy to stall at this point. After this the collent light goes off and now and again the engine light too. This happens from a few minutes into the drive and every few mins after that.

I have taken it to a few garages and they havent been able to identify the problem. Its been plugged in to diagnose and it is still unclear what the actual problem is except its an ECU problem. They also say that they wont touch it as its electronic/ecu problem.... Read more

Railroad.

Try disconnecting the coolant temperature sensor and substituting it with a component with a fixed resistance value such as a bulb and see if the problem disappears.

Nasty surprise this morning - direct debit collection issued by DVLA for £50.80 ... the entry quotes the car registration number, even so I know it's not my car as I always pay car tax in full.... needless to say the mandate has been cancelled and payment reversed... so some person somewhere has either mistakenly or fradulently quoted my bank account to DVLA.
