Hi, my wife's corsa'sheat sheild over the front silencer has fallen away. Held on with six nuts, but the thin metal has perished around them. Easy I thought, remove the nuts, stick some large washers in front of the nuts and put them back on again. Except they were so badly corroded that four of the studs sheared off, when i usd a socket to remove the nuts, even after I soaked them in WD 40 for an hour before trying to release them. I would prefer to put the shield back on. Any ideas how? Could I drill out the studs and put self tappers in place for exmple. Read more

Leave it off.Not worth the grief trying to re-fit it.

Hi, recently my car overheated and their was a loud grinding sound from the engine. We have now flushed out the system, found one hose completely blocked and flushed the radiator. Prior to all this the heater was constantly blowing hot, once we flushed the sytem for a brief moment there was hot and cold air, but now I'm back to only having hot air again.

I have watched your video on how to fit a new cooling valve but could you clarify something.....can I change this without having to drain the whole coolant system again?

Thank you for the great vids and for your help. Read more

There is still probably a market. You can still pay £20k+ for and old tvr. Will the new ones come with ABS and airbags? Just about OK 10-15 years ago but probably not now. I wouldn't have one without either these days. Might be a bit juicy as well these days with a big v8.

Hey Guys,

So I have a conundrum for you to unpick. I have a summer house on the coast of Georgia, USA that my family and I visit every summer for about a month and I've been pestering my dad to get a car out there for my friends and I to drive around. I live in London, UK all year round but I only have a US drivers license so here's the guidelines to what I want in the car:... Read more

Couldn't agree more Avant. Tried that myself with a time share my brother and I had. Much better off and easier renting. QED.

Also, never mind the soft top, go for full climate control. No sunburn, no wind and much more secure. Bliss in the heat....

Hello All, first some background. A young man from our village has been helping me with my fencing and decking project. Due to a tragic motor cycle accident as a teenager he now has limited mental capacity. He lives from a small trust fund from the accident and does casual labouring around the village. Nice lad, good worker and no trouble at all. Today he seemed out of sorts, eventually I got him to tell the problem, during which he burst into tears.

His mother died about 3 months ago and he handled it well, received lots of support and appeared to accept it and move on. However, unbeknown to him, his mother had run up several debts to the tune of about three thousand pounds. Now some of the creditors are chasing and pestering him for the money and it is clearly upsetting him. I have asked him to gather all the paperwork and bring it to me and I will go through it and try to help. This calmed him down and I assured him he was not alone and that help was at hand. However I am unfamiliar with the legal aspects concerning this situation. I always though that a persons debt died with them. He assured me he was not a guarantor(try explaining that one) and had no knowledge of the finances his mother managed. She could not access the trust fund cash, only the monthly payment, so presumably borrowed money when there was a shortfall. He still lives in the rented house they shared. I would imagine that there are some fine legal brains within the forum who can offer guidance on this subject. I think he feels that he is responsible for a remedy for his mothers actions. Any sound advice would be very welcome.... Read more

I had the clutch go about a year ago. As described by Bromptonaut it did not cause a problem - it occurred on a straight stretch and easy to crawl to a safe stopping place. Then the hassle of roadside recovery etc.

However, what if had gone in lane 3 of a motorway ? or some positions on a roundabout....
