i need some help as do not know much about cars however my engine seems to be rattling when I am driving but worse when stationary and is getting worse it is making my car sound like a diesel. Also my car I struggling to gain speed when pulling away and going up hill. Could any one please give some advice as I don't have the money to pay garage prices. Can't see there being any problem at all as long as the leads are connected the correct polarity.

Daughter has reported that when she switched the headlights on this morning all the dash lighting went off. I've told her there's a dimmer switch for that but she reckons she's tried it and it made no difference. Headlights are working and they come back on when the headlights are switched off. I have never had a problem with a light/dimmer switch on these.Also by-passing the dimmer is not so easy as it is an electronic switching device.

Hey, first time poster after following this website religiously during my last car buying spree. Hope this is the right place.
I currently own a 2008 Honda Civic 1.8 VTEC which I got in early 2013. It's been a very good car so far but despite pledging to keep it for at least five years it's been jinxed by my darling wife learning to drive in it and subsequently getting it into a horrid amount of scrapes. Within a month of her passing her test she'd let it roll at speed into our hire van when moving house (claiming she thought she could roll it just like a motorbike). We've got it fixed but now after various other moments of silliness she's dented and scratched both side skirts, had a wing mirror come loose to the point of duct taping it on (we'd only just replaced it from aformentioned incident!) and managed to knock off a wheel arch trim. I hardly drive it any more since I can cycle to work and she drives to and from work and then back at lunch to play with our dog.... Read more

hi reference to my mates vectra b we put another head on and is running but it wont idle properly feels like its hunting could it be the throttle body dirty or idle control valve , dont know what engine code it is but its 1.8 16v and got engine cover on where is idle valve thanks
You need help from someone with practical mechanical knowledge who can listen to the engine sound, understand what is going on and advise accordingly. It is very difficult, in the circumstances, to give you good advice without this being done.
