Vauxhall Corsa C - dash panels - Robin the Technician

Hi all,

Daughter has reported that when she switched the headlights on this morning all the dash lighting went off. I've told her there's a dimmer switch for that but she reckons she's tried it and it made no difference. Headlights are working and they come back on when the headlights are switched off. Any clues?

I'm having a look at it tonight so any advice would be most helpful.

Thanks

Robin, did you resolve this? SWMBO is always complaining of this happening after she's leaned the car. Dimmer's the problem as you say. Not trying to adjust the headlamp aim when you spoke to her, was she?

Probably the switch is faulty as the switch and dimmer is all one part.

Despite the insistance she was adjusting the dimmer - she wasn't!!! I had to send her a picture of the switch and 'suddenly' its working!!!

If the switch was duff there are plenty out there cheap enough and it seems relatively easy to replace. I also thought (if it was faulty) to bypass the dimmer and keep it permanently bright.

Either way the problem is solved.

Thanks for the replies - as always much appreciated.

I did wonder Robin, as the headlamp level is on the switch too.

I have never had a problem with a light/dimmer switch on these. Also by-passing the dimmer is not so easy as it is an electronic switching device.
