This afternoon I witnessed shocking abuse of a parking attendant who had ticketed a car parked in a loading bay.

He was "called various names" (the swear filter would explode) and called out and threatened by a "yoof" while his girlfriend stood by laughing.... Read more

I honestly think that traffic wardens often don't help themselves with their own attitude.

When I was on one contract, I spent most mornings just off Oxford Street in London. The traffic wardens were wise to us delivering there and they would be there waiting on the corner for us to arrive. The bit which annoyed me was they did not stick to the law. They would slap a ticket on the truck as soon as you arrived, despite the fact you were allowed 20 mins to unload in that bay. ...

I have a 2005 Fiat Panda, the problem is that the power steering keeps going of which show's as a red light on the dashboard. When I turn the engine off and restart the car it cures the problem. This has happened intermittently. I have read on some forums that this is a common fault in Fiat Pandas and maybe there has been a recall. Is it still safe to drive the car although the stearing is heavy without the power steering on?

To find if there has been a recall and your car was missed (probably because it has not been serviced in the Fiat network) you need to visit a Fiat dealer.

Personally I would not have any illusions its going to be a free fix since the car is 10 years old.

Hi all, my Getz makes a shunning noise in first gear. It doesn't go away when the clutch is used. It had the gearbox taken out a while ago when the ring gear was replaced. The oil was changed in the GB and the gears are stiff when cold. Could the oil be the problem, if so I will get the oil changed? Read more

Does that mean a clutch and gearbox problem?

hoping someone can help, I purchased car insurance for 17yr old. Was told it was a Ford fiesta 1.4tdc, log book also says just that. Found car insurance with black box under 3k, when I saw the car it has 2 seats and no rear seats, rear Windows replaced with metal and metal behind passenger seats blocking off the boot. Now I'm thinking it's a van and the lowest van insurance is 7k. Can anyone tell me if this car insurance stands? It's use is for him to get to college and commuting to work.

thanks Read more

The HPI system has the wrong details, this has happened to me. Basically it's a van and currently your son is not insured to drive that class.

I'm parked up at the side of the road, I get in the car start engine etc, Check mirrors and road ahead, there is no cars, pedestrians or cyclists. If I indicate, Who is going to benefit? answer is obviously nobody.

The only flaw in that argument is that it assumes that you are aware of every possible observer or that you have unobstructed vision in all directions. Can you be sure of that?...

At the end of May my wife is doing a 6 week placement as part of her college course. It's in an awkward part of town for bus and train, so a car would be very helpful. We can't afford to buy another car until she gets a job after finishing college next year, so we are looking at the cheapest way to rent or lease a car for 6 weeks.

Does anyone have any bright ideas for the cheapest way to do this? Lots of rental companies won't rent over 30 days, and/or are very expensive. The cheapest so far is £700+ for a short term lease.

It's slightly annoying as someone gave us a car last year, but at the time we couldn't afford the insurance as my had only recently passed her test. Read more

If you don't want to drive bangers. Pick a handful of cheap cars from somewhere trustworthy like Car Giant - stick them through the webuyanycar service (or something similar) and work out the difference picking the one with the smallest buy/sale gap. You may find you can drive a decent car for the period at a very reasonable cost.

I splashed out, ho ho, on a Kranzle power washer, my last one was basically a toy in comparison, it has a dipstick and takes 15w40 engine oil...requires an annual oil change apparently.

Now my question to the assembly, would using 5w40 full synthetic mean i can put it on long life servicing.:-)... Read more
