A few months ago I put a brand new (not reclaimed) catalytic converter into my Focus and ever since then my Engine Management Light has been on. When my mechanic hooks it up to the reader it says there is a problem with the CC, but he's checked and there isn't - it's working perfectly and my emissions are fine.
My mechanic can cancel the light but it just comes on again a few days later with the same error. My mechanic says the car just doesn't like the new CC.... Read more
Unfortunately there are cats that work efficiently enough to keep the engine light out and there are cats that don't.I guess you have the latter. As you have found ,the emissions will be fine.As the mil light is on permanently the only suggestion would be to buy a cheap code reader to check the system yourself,or take it to your mechanic every few months.

Incredible how much effort and danger people put into getting somewhere a few seconds faster than if they had just done it the less stressful and safer way. For some reason they fail to see that they will one day end up causing an accident and that will delay them much more than just going that little bit slower.
My neighbour has an '02 Rover 75 2l diesel. A week or so a 'bit' fell off.
The garage that services the car said it was a stone guard and there was no need to re-attach it.... Read more
Many thanks for the information. Since it seems fairly well protected behind the wheel arch both from wind flow, could it be that since it is not a simple flat sheet, that as well as a stone guard it is also intended to divert air upwards around the fuel cooler?

If it failed on front subframe mounting corrosion, it's not the subframe that needs changing, but that which it's mounted to!...
