All the tensioners on these are 2 wire and is does not matter which way they are connected. However on some the 2 pin plug can be released and on others the fly lead is part of the stalk.Remove the broken belt from the car and see if the plug can be detached.Alternatively you could cut the lead and join it to the new one.

Could be a fuel pressure issue. You need to be able to monitor the fuel pressure under the fail conditon to see if it drops below limits.Find a techie that has some diag equipt that will do this.

My cousin has a 64 plate Nissan Juke. Both of her ignition keys fell apart. Nissan wanted £200 to replace each key - before eventually doing so under warranty - very reluctantly.

I am considering a Nissan Note Acenta. On test drive yesterday I noted that the ignition key appears to be held together with a tiny cross head screw.... Read more

With kids getting bigger by the day, plus dog to accommodate (with more toys and kit than the kids), I am looking for a reasonably priced, reliable to run, vehicle that can swallow a large load. Looks aren't important. Whilst thos may sound like a dodgy personal ad, it is definitely a 'new' car I am looking for!

I have had a Merc Vito and ideally would want to go a size down from this due to high running costs. I don't want to pay high People Carrier prices and don't need 7 seats. With the Vito we just took out the backrow of seats to maximise the luggae space. We already have an Avensis estate, which has quite useful space, but I want something bigger in the load carrying department.... Read more

The Citroen berlingo multispace/Peugeot partner tepee is a good mpv, provided you take the necessary precautions with the diesel 1.6.

We are in the process of buying a new car from Toyota on PCP. They have asked us to go and sign the hire purchase finance agreement – the car is due for delivery in about 1 month.

I feel nervous as I expect we should have the right to reject the car etc when we collect it if the new car isn’t right (ie arrives with body work damage or engine failure). The hire purchase agreement has a 14 day withdrawal clause.

My question is when should the finance hire purchase agreement be signed normally – should I ensure it is not more than 14 days before collection?

Much appreciate any advice. Read more

Thank you everyone - that puts my mind at rest that I'm not being unreasonable. Now just have to make the dealer see that!

My driver's seat belt has frayed at the buckle about 1/4" of the 'across' thread seems to have suddenly gone. How much is it likely to cost to replace the belt? Just so I am primed for the main dealers quotes and any others I get.

Disappointed as the car has done less than 80000 miles in 6 years and this did not happen with my Passat which I owned up to 140,000 miles. Read more

Thanks for that. Will try to get it done at MOT time as I can not face two trips to the main dealer.

I remember looking at one in about 1978. If my memory is correct it had the 1.6 OHV engine and this was coupled to a 4 speed gearbox. It was only about a year old but the previous owner had upgraded to a brand new one which had just been changed to a 5 speed gearbox.

On the test drive it absolutely flew especially compared to the 1.8 Magnum I had at the time. It even seemed quick compared to my dads 2.0 Cortina. The engine was definitely an eager rev monster....
