Failed headlight? That's ok, just keep your front fogs on. At least that's what the retards do around here! Read more

Same here, and the same goes for rear fogs too. And they appear to do so in the certain knowledge that the police patrol you might just see once in a blue moon always seems to be looking the other way....

If you ran on fumes, the fuel will have picked up all the tank debris and dumped it in the fuel filter.

A friend of mine is looking to p/x his 10 year old Clio as it is costing him a lot in repairs and he's going to need something reliable for a new job next year.

If you had £1500 plus a Clio part ex value (prob £500) what would you buy? Obviously like other forum members I am well versed in the 'quality of vehicle at this price band' advice, and at the moment he is looking at Japanese petrol hatchbacks.... Read more

The last twice I've hired a car abroad I've used Europcar. The cars were excellent, nearly new. But when I get home there have been extras on the invoice. After contacting them on a premium phone line they say they are sorry and refund the money.

Why do they have to try it on?...

Basically if the car is totally drivable and the other party accepts responsibility then why are using using your insurance company?

For sure £500 per panel is about right for a insurance job. One option is accept a deal and buy back the rigth-off that covers the costs of private repair. Upto you if your inclined to repair it then....

If you get a diagnostic check, a faulty MAF will return a P code of P0100 - P0104, I think P0102 is the most common one I see.

But beware - unplugging the MAF will also throw up this code, so its good to get a diagnostic check first.

Shoot me down, but I wouldn't take a car to Kwik-Fit of Halfords full stop. I dare bet that if you did they would find some other work that required doing on your car...

In June 2013 a lamppost notice appeared announcing London Boro of Barnet plans to paint new double yellow lines at the junction of my road with another. I went to the offices and inspected the plans. Was advised to write in with my objections (Never heard of any accidents there in my 30+ years of residence, I am car & m/cycle IAM member therefore above average interest in road safety, seldom have I seen cars parked where lines proposed, far greater dangers exist at the junction for other reasons, lines unsightly and an unnecessary cost to ratepayers....etc etc.) I was assured that I would receive a reply advising of the Council's decision and the reasons therefor. Eventually did receive an `auto-response' acknowledgement of my letter, promising follow-up later. What happened 2 weeks ago?.........double yellow lines suddenly appear.

Can anyone advise how I should go about challenging and/or questioning the legality of this, please. Read more

Says it all, BARNET council, who are waging an unrelenting war on motorists, Is this not the council who were stopped from using "parking revenue" from residents parking permits to cross subsidise other "projects"

Got 1 ticket once in edgeware where i failed to understand the multiple choice signs, which craftily included a controlled zone sign at the entrance to the road, gleefully pointed out by the warden when i asked why the ticket. Now so difficult to park simply do NOT shop in Edgeware or Barnet any more, and I am sure there are plenty on this forum who can see how the main shopping street has disintegrated....
