As far as I can see, only manual aircon is available in the S, SE and GTD, no climate control.
Seems rather 1980s to me. Read more
With my Tiguan coming up to a year old, I feel I should take out some sort of breakdown insurance, hopefully never needed.

I would not touch the RAC with a bargepole due to terrible customer service
150k came up last night. I've had this car for 4.5 years from 90k and apart from a pse pump which cost me £600 it's been just routine servicing. 1 mot failure on a spring a couple of years ago and the bodywork is good. Just had a service which was £225 and now I'm semi retired will only do around 6k a year. So far 100% reliable. Read more
The one thing about all of them is that they were NOT used for short journeys!
That would be a mathematical contradiction or impossibility. If there had been any short trips, the regular long ones would have cancelled out their effect.
When my husband died 5 years ago I inherited the van. I have health issues now and will have to think about selling. Any advice where is the best place to advertise a much loved panel van conversion. Read more

It's a forum for caravanners, motor homers and campers. They have a free adverts section.
Read that at the time and had to re-read to be sure. VERY sloppy journalism IMHO.
Today I received a 'phone call regarding an incident that occured a couple of years ago. It appears a sum of money had been earmarked for any injury claim by me, by the other driver's insurance company. This caller, from a firm called Premier Solutions, has been charged with contacting me with a view to giving me the money. As I had only been shaken up, not injured, I had no need to claim. I was assured I would receive the full amount, and no charges made. Is this genuine, or is it one of these insurance scams? Who should I report it to if it is a scam? Read more
There's a lot of this at the moment. My girlfriends mum got a call from someone the other day about this. I forget the name of the company but the female on the phone told her that "a private injury settlement had been reached over an accident that happened earlier in this year".
I've told her to be very careful....

Does anyone on here know for sure if the new shape 1.5 diesel is fitted with a DPF. A salesman at Fords assures me it's not. But I thought all new diesels had them fitted as standard. Read more
I would have a word with the head honcho. He's got a salesman with no product knowledge, or a liar workling for him. Next person may not be so inquisitive as you and get stiffed.
Hi. After having a few Diesels and looking at a new 120d I have decided, for me diesels are too much trouble than they are worth and as a private buyer I'm not willing to take the risk again. I do around 25000 miles per year and repairs on my last two diesels have negated any fuel savings made ( and more). With this in mind I want to go back to petrol.
I want a car with a good amount of power, but sips fuel. I was tempted by a hybrid, but I just can't get along with the CVT gearbox despite really enjoying the Yaris hybrid for most of the time I had it. I have been researching different cars, preferable I want something no bigger than a focus. I have been looking at the Polo and A1 with the 1.4 140 ps engine with cylinder on demand technology.
I borrowed the polo for 2 days and on my commute averaged 52.3 mpg. I'm happy with this, it seemed comfortable and had plenty of power in reserve. I'm likely to buy new and extend the warranty to 90k and avoid the DSG like the plague.
I am concerned regarding oil consumption of the VAG TFSI engines. I have looked on the internet and can't find much information on the COD 1.4. Has anyone had any experience of this engine and any potential issues?
Thanks,
Gareth. Read more
"Isn't the latest VAG 1.4 TFSI a belt-cam engine?"
The latest 1.4 AND 1.2 TSI engines are all the EA211 "long life cam belt" engines....
Hi all can anyone help??
I have a 1995 Hyundai Accent 1.5 auto, had it couple of years, only use it as run around (trips to dump etc) Been a great little car sits for weeks and weeks on end starts first time everytime or did!... Read more
Clearly this is a battery issue. Putting a 'supposedly' charged battery on a car and by turning the key for a few seconds would not flatten the battery so it is completely dead. You say that you fully charged it and put it back on the Polo - but did you try it on the Hyundai first? It probably would have started ok.
From what you say you've killed the old battery by short runs. Best thing is to invest in a new battery - i bet it will start no problems then....

I 'downgraded' from full climate to aircon and I haven't missed it. MB aircon system is similar to climate as the temp dial has deg C stamped on it, so you have a good guide.
