You buy a P/X car on a TRADE SALE basis AS SEEN with NO WARRANTY which has explicitly NOT BEEN MECHANICALLY CHECKED in any way and five weeks later the clutch wears out. Obviously you have your satutory rights, of course you do, but are they worth the paper they're written on or should everyone just point and laugh at you?
It's the first car you ever bought so you're definitely a total ignoramus. You are also a single mum with a disabled child and therefore short of cash and tolerance for knobjockeys and would probably pursue a claim quite far, if it had a reasonable chance of success.... Read more
At the bottom end of the car market, this is the way the cookie crumbles.
Hello, we had the clutch replaced last week and since then we've had an issue where it is undriveable and we cannot get it into gear. The mobile mechanic who replaced clutch tells us that is is an issue with the connecting cables and that these will probably need these replacing soon as this was not part of replacing the clutch.
Can anyone tell me if this is likely? Or are they just trying to avoid responsibility for the solving the problem, ie charge us more for fixing it?... Read more
... if anyone spots a blue SEAT Toledo car with the registration A13 XEO, please let me know. Someone falsely used my address when starting an insurance policy for it - presumably so that he could drive around on the cover note then not be traced when time came to pay the premium! Same guy also tried the same trick with another vehicle, Y682 EVV, make unknown. I know the name he's using but no joy with DVLA or the boys in blue.
It seems he's tried the same scam with several insurers. I wonder if it's commonplace. Read more

They may have dropped the price by 3500, but they have also discontinued the "owners package" of 2000. So in effect the reduction is only 1500 Read more
Hello I have a 2006 mondeo 2.2 estate 50000 miles. I notice recently a small spot of oil on driveway. On opening bonnet oil was around engine mount at aux belt top of engine. I took it to my mates garage and he could not figure out where the oil was coming from and thought the same as me from the bearing. Checking with ford they said timing chain cover or would have to look at but the mount does not have oil in it. I had the area cleaned to see where it was coming from and it's definitely the mount. I have just found out the mount has a hydro bearing in it which means it has oil in it. Has anyone had any similar experience of this as I would like to confirm. Any advice welcome Read more
Thanks for feedback Peter though I was going mad for a while trying to guess where the oil was from.

Hi,
I only have 1 Key for my Fiesta (tibbe key with red transponder chip). Does anybody know if it is possible to purchase a new key and chip from flea-bay, have it cut (I have figured out the T-number) and reprogramme the new chip myself using the old key? I have been to the local Ford dealership and been quoted £140+ and same from the local auto locksmith. As my car is only worth just a bit more than that, I am not so keen on shelling out that sort of cash, if I can do it myself.... Read more
As was said above you need 2 keys to self programme. The instructions are in any Ford handbook. Bit of a faff but it works only with 2 keys.
I have been offered a genuine 17" BMW space saver spare wheel for my 520d which has 225/50/17 run flat tyres.
However the space saver tyre is from a BMW 3 series....will it fit my 5 series?
Thanks Read more
