Hi all ,I came to start a 2005 fiesta this morning ,it started fine but while I was closing the garage door the car stalled and wouldn't restart .

The lock display on the dash was flashing continuously as was the engine temperature indicator .

I tried locking the drivers door with one of the two chipped keys I have ,no remote ,and then tried to restart without success .

The reason for my post is to confirm how I managed to restart the car .I found the information on a different website but its apparently a common fiesta problem so I thought I would pass it on .

Initially I disconnected the live terminal and left it off for twenty minutes .i then restarted the car but it ran for ten minutes before stalling again ,the lock and temperature display were the same .

Because disconnecting the battery had some effect ,I disconnected the live battery terminal again and left it off for an hour . That did the trick ,the car now starts and drives fine .I guess the time delay allows the ecu to reset ?

A nice easy fix Read more

I have exessive heat comming from the driverside center console, very hot to the touch with leg and hand.

Does anyone know the problem or fix? Did Volvo ever have a recall to fix that problem? Read more

You need to find a Volvo independant to run diagnostics but my money is on a failed flap electric motor. Regards Peter

Hello, please could anyone explain ther reason/cure for severe positive battery terminal corrosion on my land rove defender, i'm based in oman and taken to reversing my boat trailer into the sea up to the rear axle, the priblem seems to have started with the introduction of salt water on the body/chasis, no where near the battery, I hose the vehicle off after immersion. any answers, thanks, Mike. Pouring boiling water over the terminal will remove all the corrosion. Dry it off and then cover in copper grease or vaseline.

But you can lock the passenger side door by pushing the latch in, then lock all the others with the key? Is that it? Then that just seems to be the passenger door electric locking not working, surely?

Old autoboxes used to 'think' on their own I believe as to which gear to pick, but can anyone explain how modern autos work, in particular how abs and 4 wheel drive control units interact with them? Can faults in these supplementary units casue the box to do unexpected changes? Read more

This is on a 2004 1.4i Ford Fiesta Zetec

Noticed that when the aircon is on the revs drop every 20 secs or so. At the same time as the rev drop the radiator fan kicks in and though it’s hard to tell with the rad fan kicking I suspect I hear another clunk at the same time - maybe the aircon pump engaging?... Read more

Ford Main dealer just fitted Ford "AutoDab" DAB radio upgrade - first installation by dealer, p/n A66SX18D833BA, in reality widely available unit from www.autodab.com - all good except ..... factory integrated voice command / control button no longer works , new functionality just switches AUTODAB on . Works O.K with steering wheel controls as guide suggests, has anybody experince of either using this unit or fitting etc., noting car has heated front windscreen too (aerial sited in edge of windscreen which is element free) ? Doesn't feel right to me -:( Read more

Same scenario here-first time the local dealers have put one in-we got it put in 2 days ago and are still trying to fathom out the channels. We have followed all instructions to the letter and are both computer and car controls savvy but this is defeating us-either that or our expectations were too high for Ford!

Did you get anywhere with yours or did you give up in the end? As it's the first fitting at our dealers we reckon they won't be a lot of help -goodness knows it took them all day to sort themselves out over missing parts etc in the first place even though it had been ordered a week previously. The leaflet is probably about as brief as they could make it but it is very long winded and we got really frustrated with it....

my 405 has been very hard to start of late and i have found there to be a diesel leak coming from the bottom of the fuel filter housing. It is a small white round piece at the bottom of the black plastic filter housing, on another site info I have read leads me to believe that is coming from a thermostat at the bottom of the housing. I have not been able to find any info online in regards to this part, or how to repair or replace.... Read more
