Any of you who like me have received an automatic fine for not declaring SORN quickly enough or forgetting to declare it because they did not receive a reminder (the onus is on you to declare it) might be interested in this web-site which has just been launched:-... Read more
One of my cars is SORNicated and I have put a reminder in MS Outlook to flag it up when it is due again next year. Simple.
I'm looking at an ex demo car at a Ford dealership. Just a few aspects that I'm a little surprised about from a dealership.
Firstly a £70 admin fee. I'm not wanting finance, the car has been theirs since new, so why are they adamant there has to be a fee? What's it for?
The car will not come with any road tax. It's being used at the moment, so why no tax? Don't most cars like this come with at least some tax?
Also, they've not tried any of the old "have to decide today to get this price". In fact they won't negotiate on price at all. However the price is a good one. They are saying though that the car would have to be picked up by the end of the month. Couldn't really get a reason why. I'm assuming sales targets, but why would that affect an ex demo car? It's not like they won't sell it if it goes past the month end is it?
Am i just out of the loop or are these quite odd conditions? Read more
As far as I am aware Ford Direct cars are ex-Hertz hire cars so an ex-demo car would not be part of this scheme.
I just bought a Ford Direct Focus for my wife, and I always knew it would be an ex hire car, in this case EuropCar according to some scribles on the document pack. What surprised me was the difference in attitude between whether you bought one of their own second hand cars, or picked one from the Ford Direct portal....
since coming back from MOT i have noticed my engine managment and coolant lights stay on when ignition is on but go off when engine started, neither come back on when driving and engine temp is normal (has always sat about 86 Deg) nothing else is effected to my knowledge.
i dont trust the garage so dont want to take it back there Read more
railroad thanks for the reply, im not worried about the MOT , thats fine , passed ok apart from replacing a front coil spring. its just that the light has only started to stay on during ignition and goes off when engine started, previously it used to go off before engine management light.
i was trying to find out why it has starting doing this all of a sudden...
engine management light stays on at all times and car is not in limp mode it ,s got plenty of power and revs way over 3000rpm. just bought car and after 30 miles light came on now someone has told me that if car at sometime had cherry in it that it may have damaged pump causing problem. only thing i see on dash says electronic ignition fault. if you have any solution to this your help would be appreciated. Hi,anyone know of a supplier for rear brake hoses. My local accessories shops have all drawn a blank.Nearest is 17mm too short which stretches pipe,I need 355mm total length, males both end,or male/chamfered female.Cost £26 a pair for TRW compared to 70-odd quid from Ford parts,so am keen to locate good pattern parts.See there are hoses from Italy available on the well known auction site, anyone vouch for them??Ta. I wonder if anyone on the forum has come across this before. I have an Accord that I bought in May 2008 at 12 months old. In February 2009 at 21000 miles I had a severe grating noise from the brakes and had to have Rear Discs and Pads fitted. The car has been in for a service this week and I was told that it needed these doing again.I cannot understand why the rear brakes are wearing so soon whilst the front ones are lasting much better
On the previous occasion when this occurred I contacted Honda UK Customer Services as I had discovered that this was a common problem in the USA on the 2008 onwards (new model) Accord but they sent the usual bland reply and I got nowhere. My previous Accord (a 2005 model) had no such problems in the 50K miles that I drove with it.... Read more
I believe the issue still exists.
I have one of the last MK7 Accord Sport GT, I had all four discs and pads replaced under warranty after buying the vehicle at 38K and at 42K the discs were warped badly....
Di's any one know how do Iisolate the LPG on my car Seat Alhambra Read more
Well I hope that helped.
I travel to europe quite often (P&O Ferries) in my LPG equipped cars. I have been told that Eurotunnel will not allow LPG equipped cars to travel....
Morning, I'm sure this has been discussed in the past, but I have searched and not found a definitive answer.
If a garage of 60yrs standing offers a 'trade-in' with no warranty do I, as a customer have any rights if something goes wrong with the car in the first few weeks of ownership? Or is this just garage speak to try to fool me into thinking I have no come-back just incase?... Read more
The latter; although exactly what come-back you have in the event of a problem will depend on the age, mileage & price at time of purchase.
Don't forget, if any faults are pointed out to you prior to purchase you will not be able to go back with these...
A few times over the last couple of days when the wife has been driving her car, the choke warning light has come on for a few seconds and then gone off again.
The car has no choke as it's fuel injection!... Read more

Its dropping into limp home mode the reasons are many you need the ecu reading with an OBD11.You do not say what type of engine a turbo diesel has many more different reasons for the problem than as does a petrol.
