I have a 2000 Volvo V70 classic 170bhp; the heater fan on the air conditioning has suddenly stopped blowing; the electrics seem ok.
I am getting conflicting advice:
1) That if the gas is low, the heater fan automatically stops blowing, and that re-gassing will cure it. Is this correct?
2) That the heater fan requires a new motor, for which I have been quoted £370 including VAT but excluding labour to fit - is this a rip-off, where can I get it done cheaper?

Answers to one or both queries much appreciated, thanks. Read more

The fan and power control unit are an the passenger side behind the glove box. You should check the fan is free to rotate by removing the pollen filter and spinning the fan. If afterwards the fan works again then it would indicate that the brushes are worn. Regards Peter

I`d be surprised if anyone keeps the motor for long after using it,IMO I wouldnt recommend it on new cooling systems they are too small for a blockage as it is without adding to it : ( Read more

A few days ago my V reg 306 had to be jump started, it started fine and ran fine for a further five days. The car then wouldn't start after not being started for around 12 hours. Aswell as the car not starting, the central locking, trip meter, harzard light button, stereo and fuel/speed gauge and ECU etc there was no problem found and the car still does not start. Does any one have any ideas about this?????? Read more

Hi all I just brought a Ford mondeo TDCI 130 PS, and I was made aware that it cuts out at high revs and me being me and being use to older cars that are simple to work on and cheap to purchase parts still brought it as I thought it would be a cheap fix as it was a baragin price...from reading previous topic about these cars how wrong i was....anyway the car is ok when driven at low rev however if you put your foot down it sometimes cuts out and the pre heat light comes which as i experience is not good when you in the fast lane but will start straight back up also when you take it up to high revs it sometimes make a loud almost like tapping noise but does not do it if the car is idle only under load and also under heavy acceleration it chunks out alot of smoke. On closer inspection I have noticed what appears to be diesel around number 1 injector. Do you think this is defiantly an injector fault or is it worth changing the camshaft and clean the crank sensor and EGR value or will i be wasting my time. I do not want to take it to ford for them to say it is this and that and give me a nice big bill at the end of it and the fault is still present as i noticed has happened to alot of people, any input will be much appreciated. Thankyou Read more

For the last few weeks I've noticed when driving my steering has been trying to not drag, but jerk to the left...... If you drive forward and leave the steering wheel alone it will jerk to the left at short intervals, with the intervals getting shorter the faster you go, however when you go over the magic 70mph barrier, it seems to really calm down and isn't much of an issue at all........ It has been geting worse over the last few days, to the point where I am only using my car to get to work. If you look out the rear window as your pulling off you can see that the car isn't going smooth, but is moving in a motion that is consistent with perhaps a buckled wheel. I will be going outside with the jack later today to try and find the offending wheel, but was interested to hear if other people have had this problem before... was it a defective wheel/tyre, or is something much worse, i.e - an axle is slightly bent? Yes, checked the tyres, and there was a lump on the off side front tyre, so whacked the spare on and the car is running fine again now..... Thats going to be another dent to the wallet then!

I have a Rover 75 2001 2.0CDT Conn SE Manual.

In the top middle of the instrument panel between the speedo and the rev counter, sits the message centre for the trip computer. After selecting whichever function I want information about (e.g. Range, mpg etc), the information is only shown for a short time before the message centre goes blank. IS THIS NORMAL? The message centre does display other information permanently such as if there's a bulb failure or if there is a door open etc.... Read more

I've finally found the thread on 75andzt site, and as I thought, the trip computer information DOES disappear after a short time and it is a standard function which cannot be changed by using the t4 diagnostic reset tool :(

Well that's another thing that does not need fixing :)...

From time to time the Auto light displays when driving. Turning off the ignition and restarting fixes it, however what does this mean. There are no other lights displayed with it and the car runs fine. Read more
