my 2000 1.8td ford focus has started reving high. It doesnt do it all the time and not when its cold, it can be driven with out using the accelarator and when the clutch is dipped the revs go higher then drop back down. It had a clutch fitted 3 months ago. Im just wondering if anybody has any ideas what it could be? ive taken it into the garage and they said let it get worse. cheers. Read more
Walker, Timax, or Bosal are available but which is the best product? I have received different responses from exhaust fit garages. One said Bosal should last a few years longer, another said Walker boxes were better fabricated and had less warranty claims, a Bosal stockist appeared genuine when saying these systems tended to fit better.
Prices are similar although some garages are quoting more for Bosal, and some are saying they may no longer be able to get the Bosal parts.... Read more
<In my experience these stainless steel systems do not last as long as the original systems.>
I don't believe it! After replacing several tailpipes - possible timax - on my 1980TR7 I eventually bought a stainless steel exhaust from Rimmer bros in Sep 1993. It's still going strong nearly 17yrs later....

It was a hot summer Morning as I sat by the Cathedral, backed by a little patch of grass, over the graves of the worthy - these two hundred years gone.
You hear them on the final approach, that whoof whoof - as in soft feathers beating the air - the delight of childhood with their little ringed ankles and excitement waiting for the eggs to hatch and to see the chicks.... Read more
Animals and birds seem to adapt to deformity from birth or deformity from trauma so much better than us Humans, and they do it on thier own. They dont have hospitals, social care, or rehabilitation as such (unless they are pets) they just get on with it - do or die! - tis natures way! Of course Mans "dirty modern day habits" such as food strewn about the streets, can help them to some degree, especially at first while they learn to adapt.
Would be interesting to see how "we" would cope in the same circumstances!

Have you looked in the handbook?
I strongly suspect many people do not know the true cost of running their car. The other evening I pulled into my drive when someone I know vaguely was walking by. He made the comment “You must be a rich man”! I queried this and he said “To put the petrol in that car”. That car is an old (sub £1000) V6 Vauxhall that replaced my old 2 litre Omega. The petrol costs are not really that high as I only do about 5000 miles per annum. I pointed this out and the fact that his car had already lost around £5000 in its first year. He mumbled “You must be a rich man” again and strolled off. It is nearly as if some people think depreciation is not real money as it does not appear on their credit/debit card statement.... My apologies, my fuel expenditure spreadsheet for the whole of the first year got wiped out so the fuel records only cover 2/08-2/10 whereas my capital/maintenance expenses costs are for the full 3 year period. In that first year I drove 20k miles but now have no fuel expenditure or usage data.

Hi,
I was banned from driving in 2007 for 3 years and my ban is due to expire nect month. I contacted the DVLA today to inquire about applying for my provisional again as the court ordered my to retake my driving test. The DVLA informed me that the y have absolutely no record of me having a driving ban and as far as they are concerned, I have a full, clean driving licence. They also told me that if I was to be pulled over by the police, they would say the same as they share the same information as the DVLA.... Read more
