I strongly suspect many people do not know the true cost of running their car. The other evening I pulled into my drive when someone I know vaguely was walking by. He made the comment “You must be a rich man”! I queried this and he said “To put the petrol in that car”. That car is an old (sub £1000) V6 Vauxhall that replaced my old 2 litre Omega. The petrol costs are not really that high as I only do about 5000 miles per annum. I pointed this out and the fact that his car had already lost around £5000 in its first year. He mumbled “You must be a rich man” again and strolled off. It is nearly as if some people think depreciation is not real money as it does not appear on their credit/debit card statement.... Hi my sons girlfriend has the above car and a few months ago she had the front brake cylinder changed because of the locking on problem and a slight leak ,but soon after the brakes kept locking on which wore down the brakes and the discs which she changes she also took the car back to the garage and they also fitted a new re-con cylinder but the problem come back again so about four weeks ago she replaced the brake sensor all was good untill today its come back ,also there is no warning lights coming up on the dash board,can anyone give me inforation on this problem,Thanks Read more

18 months ago someone reversed into my car (Honda S2000). Damage was not massive but car was being repaired for about a week as it required parts and respray etc. I signed a credit hire agreement at the time (before I had done any research) and received a new Alfa Romeo GT as a replacement. Repairs were done and car handed back. 18 months on and I've now received a letter from Albany Assistance who are dealing with it on behalf of Bell Insurance that the 3rd party insurer is refusing to pay the car hire costs of about £1200. I then received letters from a "paralegal" on behalf of a solicitor saying that the case was going to the small claims court so I should sign this and that and co-operate etc. I'm completely bewildered and worried about what I may be asked to pay for when I had no blame in the accident. I have not yet been in touch with the solicitor because I don't want anything to do with it but how do I make sure I don't get stung for solicitor's fees on top? It's a scandal that this can even happen to an innocent, insured person. Help!

The electric aerial has stopped going up and down but i can still hear the motor starting and stopping, i think i have a replacement to fit but does the trim that hugs the wing need to be removed in order to get the inner wing off so as the broken aerial can be accessed, i have removed all of the screws/inserts but the inner wing is still stuck fast but appears to lip under the exterior trim......any suggestions, thanks Paul Read more
