Can anyone recommend a good choice of tyres for this model? I am currently running Dunlop SP Fast Response but would welcome suggestions for something different. Good handling and good wear.

You must have sorted out your windscreen problem then willow ? (If your keeping the car)!
In the past I've always traded my car in.
I intend buying my friends car when she gets her new one so I will be selling mine privately. So far so good.
For a short while I could find myself being the owner of two cars. What do others do? Any advice would be appreciated. Read more
Contact your insurer. Some will cover your old car for a few weeks for free, some will charge a fee and some will tell you to buy a whole new annual policy. Only way is to ask.
Car has been running fine but since i accelerated very hard there has been what is best described as a whooshing sound coming from the engine, the car also seems a little sluggish compared to what it was when accelerating. The car does not make the sound when the engine is being revved under no load. Your thoughts gents would be appreciated. Read more
Sounds like you have blown off or split the Turbo output pipe. Very close inspection required. Regards Peter

Thanks in advance.

Likely door lock module. Check to see if there's a puddle light not working on one of the doors. It's a common mkiv fault. PITA to get to - door card off and window regulator off too, but this amateur DIYer managed - a new one is around £80 from VW if I remember correctly. Needs doing as it keeps locking you out!
Hello,
When I tried to lock the car the other day it did the locking-then-unlocking-itself thing for the first time. After opening and closing several doors I managed to get the car to lock.... Read more
Two magnificent four wheel drives pulled alongside as I waited to enter the M1. The drivers (both small peas in big drums) sneared at each other from their high cabs - not noticing my small van sandwiched between them.
(Yes, I had caught the end of the school run again by setting off too early)... Read more
Range Rover sport is what you need with blacked out windows and also in black for the school run and why not drive the 4x4 to pick the kids maybe they need a 7 seater or just like some room to move rather than a cramped old van.

I have a 2.0 2004 Subaru Legacy Estate. It replaced an 09 plate 1.8 TFSI A3 (I get the train to work now) which in turn replaced an 05 plate Saab 9-3 diesel saloon.
It has almost 80 k miles up, has a full history and 2 owners - one the supplying garage....
