The radiator fan is coming on sometimes for no apparent reason, as often the engine has only just been started and the radiator is cold. However, on other ocasions there is no problem whatsoever. Last month I had a new cambelt fitted (at 21,825 miles) when the car became 5 years old, and also the air conditioning unit was re-gassed. Could there be any association with this work and the problem I am now experiencing, or is it perhaps due to a fault which lies somewhere else?

A defective coolant temprature transmitter can also cause the same fault. Is the EML on at any time?

Apologies it reads as though the 5 year service was free, it wasn't, but compared to the cost of five services it was excellent value.

I think he paid about £250 for the five year service pack - I doubt Honda would quote £50 for a service!

Well Tanked

My discovery 3 has developed damage on the elbow at the top of the fuel tank this will require a new fuel tank £850 fitted.

My intial thoughts are: If this was a design fault there would very very many more incidents like this, apparently this is a once in a fitters life time event.... Read more

Hi,

You've not mentioned if its petrol or diesel. A diesel tank can be welded - even if its full of fuel as it's not volatile like petrol. I know because I've welded many truck tanks leaking. ...

Hi

I recently bought a cav and two days after purchasing...it started to lose power...down to 2000rpm when doing 70 on motorway, huccuping on idiling. No Engine managment light has come on, but 4 weeks later the car continues to do so , and I darent drive it anywhere.
A friend who knows his way round cars, said its the mass flow meter...and its an easy job to replace????
Could it be this part? Ive looked at the exhaust and it all seems fine. Im a student nurse and cannot afford garage prices and really dont want to fork out for a part if its not the problem!

Any help would be very grateful.... Read more

And now I'm in re-insurance hell...
Several weeks ago I was parked in a secure car park when a council truck collided with my car. I was nowhere near the vehicle at the time. The worker immediately admitted liability. I arranged for vehicle repair and a hire car at no charge. Trying to renew my car insurance, I find the premium has increased substantially.
Is there anything I can do about this? Conversations with insurance companies have just resulted in them reading their scripts...
Thanks for any help you can give.

If the claim is still not resolved it will be down as a fault claim until it is sorted. Once it is you will get a refund on the extra insurance you are paying as a result of this 'claim' showing on your record.

LV were excellent with me for a non fault (7 weeks from accident to excess refund) and as Jes says my renewal was no more as a result of having a no fault claim on my record - I also did two quotes one with and one without the accident....
