BMW 320i - Excess Engine vibration - Joy61

Hi,
I was planning to pick up a second hand BMW 320i yesterday (2006 plate, done 52K miles) but on starting and revving the engine felt a distinct vibration.The same thing happend on shutting off the ignition.As its a petrol engine I am a bit worried about the state of the engine as petrol engines generally dont vibrate so much.Could it be because of some fault,worn part or a bad engine?
Kindly advise.

Does it tickover/run smoothly, if so its probably a worn engine mounting - unless it has a DMF it could be that.

Possibly a exhaust bracket is broken and the exhaust is vibrating?

At 52k can't see engine mounts be worn ask him to put it up on a ramp at your local indie if nothing to hide he will.
