I've seen an awful lot of car adverts on Autotrader/ebay etc where the owner claims to be moving overseas hence the sale of the car..
Is this just a fabrication/cover for the real reason for selling or do people think it is really true? Does anyone take any notice of the reason given for selling?
Just wondered if those in the trade knew what it really meant...does it mean someone who is going to be conveniently hard to get hold of afterwards? or is it implying that the person wants a quick sale? Read more
Simple question!
apart from the cars that come into the super rich category, ie RR, Bentley, Bugatti/etc - is it worth buying a brand new Ford, Vauxhall, Renault, Pegout, Fiat, Chevy, Dodge Suzki, Kia/etc/etc, when these cars lose at least 33% within 3 - 6 months?
I always buy six months+ old - my merc - was9 months old - 9k on the clock - saved almost 9k
Btw, I'm talking about Brit reg cars with 3 or more years guarantee.
=========
PS: Brand new models from mass car producers will obviously hold their value better for the first 6/12 months

Thats like saying how long is a piece of string!
Everyone can be different you get seized bolts, seized jubilee clips etc, your having a bad day, the dogs just died etc!
As for the price your better ringing serk marston or a radiator specialist it will be exchange, or you can get yours repaired or re-coured. Reply to this message | Report message as offensive

I have never owned a jeep type car in the uk - but driven several in the usa.
As you know, roads are usually wider so easier to drive. Here in the uk, I've only had saloons - the biggest was a bmw 5 & now drive a merc c class.
So i want to get the feel of the car & ensure it is the right choice- d you think jeep would give me a car for the weekend? Read more
Length is no big deal. Howev er, as the jeep is more square, higher and abut 3" wider - you get the impression that it is massive - but not in the usa - also body roll.
So i want to know how it feels before selling up my merc 07 plate.
I may call local jeep tomorrow - they cav keep my car for the weekevd
can some one please tell me how to turn off the seat belt warning as it is driving me mad Read more
Just turned mine off, was driving me insane too. Especially when trying to order food at a McDonald's drive through!

hi room , is any one doing an engine oil promotion at the mo? i need a gallon of semi skimmed 10/40, halfords are quoting 8.99 a litre top up ( robbin pink fluffy dice) cheers zoo
{What part of the no swearing policy did you NOT understand?
btw, it's semi synth, not semi skimmed, unless you're contemplating using milk as a lubricant ;o)} Read more
my local off licence sorry Motor factor does Comma semi at £17.99 per 4 litres
(or is it 5 litres)?
Toyota sell their own oil semi synthetic at under £20..
In fact almost any Factor is reasonable...
Our 'Avon Lady' didn't find Max Factor very reasonable!!
KwikFit sell motoring related products.
I have seen this advert a few times and every time I see it, it makes my blood boil.
The advert in question is the one with the mother and son in the Kwikfit waiting room. As the mother is getting a quote for a service, the son is braying hell out of the drinks machine.
What does the mother do ? nothing at all, but just looks on as if it's normal behaviour.
Asked what else Kwik Fit can do, the man giving the quote waves his hand and little Johnnie falls asleep.
Im my day the kid would get a smack and be told to sit still but these days it's not correct to do that and so the kids do as they like.
I know it's fiction, but it beats me how they can promote this sort of behaviour as " normal " and get away with it. Read more
cant believe people need reversing aids to reverse
maybe they should employ some lower order to walk behind them with a flag
If cars had some glass at the back, there wouldn't be a problem.
I used to drive a 1983 Datsun Sunny estate. Greater rear visibility, no problem reversing.
Same with its successor, a Peugeot 305 estate. I could park it accurately and easily, because like the Sunny it was like a greenhouse t the back: all glass.
But my Almera hatchback has very thick rear pillars, and a relatively narrow rear screen with a high base. It would be hard work to park accurately without the reversing sensors.
I have a itch that I want to scratch so please bear with me.
I want to get a 4x4, and I think I'm now in the right position to get one. Currently out of work but hopefully working within next 4 months or so, so I need a car (just sold my last one). When I get a job, 99% certain I'l get a company car so this is a short term thing.
Budget is an issue, circa £1500, maybe a tad more. Want diesel, can't afford the low teens MPG that a big petrol will give, even though I know a diesel won't really be that economical. Looking maybe for a 1995/96 Disco Tdi? Any thoughts/comments/ recommendations. Loads of early 90's Pajeros around but I'm not sure that an import is a good idea.
What would you get with that limited budget knowing it is only a 3 month fling? Disco, import Pajero, A.N.Other? What do I need to look out for, I guess rust is the biggest thing on cars of this age. Ability to re-sell is quite important though. Happy to lose a few quid for the experience but not all of my money.
Thanks.

Not always - I'm moving overseas in a week's time and need to sell my car sooner rather than later. So the answer is, that I want a quick sale. And it's not a scam. And I'd be happy to leave my phone number, as I have nothing to hide!
