Altea 1.9 Pdi D 90HP S base spec
C3 picasso 1.6HDi VTR+ 90hp
I'm having real trouble trying to decide on which car to get.
Idon't like waiting so the altea can be had in 2 weeks and the citroen in 8 weeks.
The altea has Esp safety system but is base spec whereas the c3 is mid spec but no safety esp control.
The c3 picasso comes in horrible colours except all black.
The cost of either isnt a consideration as the cars are a present from my brother.

we chose bitter lemon colour which looks awful in the brochure but great on the car and it will stand out of the crown so hopefully no side impacts on the roundabout.
Is it safe to mix different colours of anti-freeze? I recall reading somewhere that they can react and gum up, don't know if it is true or not.
I have red in the engine now but the top-up container has blue in it. Both Halfords own brand.

Personally id flush the old out and if you can back flush the heater matrix pipes and radiator to remove any sludge.
Then re fill with your new, mix is 50/50.
when driving my Combo from cold every thing is OK until the engine temp reaches normal operating temp and then the service light comes on, twice I have had it plugged into a diagnostic reader and both times it has said there are no codes to read, and on the snapshot side there are no snapshots to read, how do I get the EOBD to read and report the codes. My son bought a Renault CLio and soon found that he had problems starting it from time to time. On occasions when it did start the accelerator had a mind of its own and raced without anyone touching the pedal. This also happened on one occasion when he drove it - the accelerator raced and then the car started to lose power until it finally stopped. The next day it started without a problem. It has had two new starter motors, work for a sticking acelerator pedal and a costly repair for a valve (can't remember the name) - but still the problem recurs. Can anyone give any suggestions before he takes it back to the garage yet again? Read more
Thanks Peter - I'll pass this on to my son and the garage in the hope it solves the problem. I must admit there are occasions when the car fails to start and other occasions when the car takes on a life of its own by revving indiscriminately - it hadn't occured to me that it could be two separate problems - neither has it occured to the garage! At least he'll sound as if he knows what he's talking about.

I was idly sat waiting at the lights with the indicator flashing away and tried to remember the last time an indicator bulb blew. I have never had one go was the answer, numerous Volvos have blown all the others and headlight bulbs seem to go every now and then on other makes but why this immunity for indicators? on the face of it they should be the most vulunerable. I've lost count of the number of cars I've seen with just one indicator franticaly
flashing.
Must be an intermittent fault.
Before anyone asks, yes I have googled without any real success.
Just to quickly recap on the problem, I can't insure my car in Austria because it has yet to be imported and given an Austrian registration, and I can't continue with my current insurer because I'm not a UK resident (they are going to cancel my insurance seven days after leaving the UK. Ideally I would like to find a UK insurer who will insure my car on a UK registration but where my place of residency is in an EU country pending re-registration in Austria. I only need it for around 4 weeks while the import formalities are completed. I have followed up the suggestion regarding insuring via the VIN/chassis number in Austria but that's not a flyer.
Any ideas - apart from hiring a car for a few weeks which has already been suggested? Read more
Do please use more paragraphs when posting in future, Honest Jane: I lost the will to live halfway through this. If you want sympathy and/or advice, you need to make it easier for people to read.
HI can anyone help? Auto gearbox has just been rebuilt now engine is 'lumpy' on tickover and stalls almost every time when I deccelerate. New plugs and leads fitted still the same. Went to Chrysler dealer they found no fault codes although they did emission test and CO is 6% and H/C is 2000 ppm. They recommend having gearbox removed and rebuilt again, something that the gearbox company is obviously reluctant to do as gearbox seems to be working fine. My question is can the gearbox electronics influence engine management in this way? By the way the gearbox co. had a similar model there at the time and tried changing Throttle body, map sensor and crank sensor all to no avail. Any help will be much appreciated Thank in anticipation Rob. Read more
is the rev counter behaving itself? Did the dealer check the cam and crank sensors are in sink? Just wonder if the drive plate got damaged doing the box.
We went to a country show (Chatsworth) yesterday and we had a 12v coolbox plugged in to the cig lighter.
In the past we have left this on for a few hours and had no trouble starting the car, but yesterday we left it on from 8.30 in the morning right through to about 7.45 in the evening.
The first sign of trouble started when I came to press the remote and the car would not unlock.
Tried my wifes remote and that was the same and then the penny dropped, the battery was very flat. My freind had some jump leads in their car so it was not a problem, but the thought crossed my mind that if I had tried to bump start it, would I have succeded.
The car is a VW Bora with a PD 130 TDI engine. Would it need need a lot of electrical power to work the injectors and electronics etc and would it cause damage if I had tried ?
Has anybody tried it ? Read more
Apart from any electrical issues (bump starting would be unlikely to power the injector solenoids and lift pump adequately) there is the small matter of the transmission.
Bump starting a diesel is probably the quickest way to damage a DMF I can think of.

My battery died bought a new one but inadvertantly put terminals on wrong= By doing this you may have killed a component like above.
If your not sure what your doing best take it to a garage.
