sorry not sure of the yr or model type , tiz a gold coloured 4 door diesel corsa , , i was told the engine is the Isuzu one , anyway the heater plugs have been checked and work ok , but it seems that the glow light is going out early , and is struggling to start, is there a timer relay or something obvious that can be changed/checked?

thanks

What make glow plugs are fitted to this? The resistance and current draw is critical on these Isuzu engine models for the system to function correctly.Use either genuine GM or equivalent NGK/Ntk types.hth

from the BBC website

A car thief who had his name and date of birth tattooed on his neck was caught after CCTV images of him were used to track him down.

The car had been left by Avon and Somerset Police officers with a covert camera concealed inside

Probably owed money to a gang who don't take no for an answer. Or maybe he wanted to keep "clean". Making sure the police could get him tucked up inside pronto, and no bail!

Hi, Looking for sum Info.....

My 97 Pug 406, seems to be lacking power when driving.

Example: on motorway in 5th gear revs not developing over 3.5 thousand, and extremely slow acceleration.

Does anyone have any ideas of the probable cause, have been told it could be a blocked dump valve or possibly the Turbo is knackered. Apart from the power loss there are no other symptoms. ie fault codes or warning lights.

Any help would be greatly appreciated .....And hopefully a cheap fix.

There does not seem to be any leaks in any of the piping. was told the engine could be electronically restricted via the ecu (as the car is ex Fleet) is there any truth in this and if so haw do i reset the ECU to remove the restriction?

I have a 53 duel-fuel Ford Focus (manufacturer fitted lpg). Recently, I've been experiencing intermittent trouble with the gas supply to the engine. A few minutes after starting the car the gas supply to the engine seems to die and the power fades away. It doesn't usually cut out completely, but the engine struggles until either the petrol kicks in automatically or I switch it manually.
It doesn't happen all the time, but usually it's when the engine has just been started from cold. Sometimes after this happens I switch to petrol then back to gas again and the same thing occurs after a few minutes. However, once the car has been running on gas for a while it seems to be OK for the rest of the journey.

This is only recent; I've had the car for a year now and it has always run fine before. It has covered 103000 miles so far. I'm not an expert on lpg so not sure who makes the system that Ford fitted in their vehicles or what effect this might have. The car was recently serviced and has never had any other mechanical faults that I know of.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or know what might be causing it? I've read some previous posts on lpg which seem to suggest it might be some kind of filter in the gas fuel line.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Did anyone see it? I've just watched it now and have to say that it's the most moving episode that I've ever seen of any of the police shows.

The fatal accident was simply horrific but bravo to the BBC for showing it in most of it's detail as nothing that I have ever seen before affected me like that did. The way that it clearly impacted the lives of everyone involved, even the attending police officers was quite obvious. Whilst I would always like to think that I take care out there on the roads, it certainly slams home the consequences of getting it a little wrong.

I would say that it also pretty much demonstrates exactly why the Police close motorways after fatal accidents for as long as they do. I'll certainly never question them!

The car that suffered two fatalities was a car similar in age of design to my own and it was rendered unrecogniseable by the impact. It certainly was enough to remove any sense that my car offers protection on the motorway and I guess that, in a way, this is a good thing.

On a side note, it has made me think that my next car will be an X5 or large Merc at the very least, not that it would count for much in such a hard impact.

Yes it was filmed in Humberside. I will do some digging and see what was the evidence to charge 'Death by Dangerous'. Bear in mind that when the driver was charged 'Death by Careless' was probably not on the books as it is only recent legislation..

With a 1.6Hdi 110hp, if the turbo pressure was boosted by altering the actuator push rod. Would the ECU system see the extra boost and increase the fueling, increasing the power.

As you could do on the mechanical pumps and turbos of such as the 306 Pugs and ZX Citroens.

Curious as the question was asked by a friend.

Completely different system; you'd be in limp mode with an overboost code inside 100 yards.

The turbo is ECU monitored; don't even think of messing with it. Compared to a 306; this is as different as a Dakota to Concorde.

I cannot believe what he's asking for it. At $1.67 to the pound that's over £2800. How much did it originally cost!

We saw some old cars in Greece recently, mark 1 Fiesta, old Mazdas, a Cavalier. All still running. A friendly waiter at a harbour restaurant even give us a lift to the ferry back to our island when raining in a Rover 200 (the first model from the 80s/90s)

My father in law has a 57 plate Lexus is250 (petrol). He has often thought that the clutch has a high biting point but this week his missus has taken it for it's first service. The dealers have said it needs a NEW CLUTCH through bad driving and want a grand for a new clutch. They are adamant that they will not contribute putting it down to wear and tear and simply said it's bad driving. I am a trained police driver and have seen him drive quite often and would never say he is a bad driver. All the same for a clutch to fail after 3.500miles on a LEXUS of all things is I think staggering. Any sensible comments or advice would be most welcome.... Read more

Seems to me that there shouldn't be a grey area here, I mean the car has only done 3500 miles so it must have either been abused terribly or have suffered a manufacturing fault/component failure.

Perhaps let the dealer strip it down and get an independent inspection, AA etc.

I run a Yaris diesel (from new for 2 years) and have noticed a loud rattling sound from the engine compartment when starting the car in wet weather. I stress this only happens in wet weather and this has happened from when I first purchased the car. Does any one know if this is serious or what it could be? thanks, Sheldon. Read more

It is hard to say Peter , but I would think it sounds mechanical! It only lasts for about a minute once I put the revs up it goes away. Hope its not the timing chain .Thanks, Sheldon.

I own a 1.6 automatic 2004 (mk1) focus. I need to buy some new tyres and was wondering if there is a prefered make.
I do a lot of miles each year.
I heard a rumor that some tyres make a lot of road noise on this car, is this true?
thanks. Read more

For my Focus 2, 1.6 tdci, I've just changed the original tyres for mid-priced Falken F432's.
These are as good as the originals, and seem impressive in the wet. They are made in Japan, so quality should be good.
