My late father had one (followed an 1800), along with a friend who had the 2.2-litre(?) version - ours was superbly roomy, but the only car I've ever known that had a rust holed roof...:-)

A ludicrous price for a ghastly car. It would be a silly price if it was in UK with some spares availibity. For Seattle it is a nightmare.

I wouldn't pay $4.80!

It would be refreshingly different in the US I guess. My dad had one of these - it was a sublime car for the price a the time, a nice courting car as well !

You must have been/be better looking than your "handle" suggests if you could pull in one of those !! Respect !!

The best thing in this car (which was never really publicised) was its seating position. At its time, compared to cortinas etc that were out with it at the time, this had the best seats for people of every different size from the smallest to the biggest person.

odd fact !

I'd already pulled by the time the Princess was whipped out. It was the nearest thing to a lounge on wheels. I am still pretty nifty in the looks department I'll have you know. ;-)

The Princess may have also given you......... ahem......... "Austin" Powers charisma to boot.

Coat already fastened.............

It was authentically the 1970s, I had some rather nice brown leather Freeman Hardy and Willis platforms as well ! - I felt the biz in them.

That's an awesome car! Here in La$ Vega$, I've seen somebody driving a similar-looking car, a 1980 Rover 3500 if I remember right. Rare as hen's teeth, but looks so bitchen. You just want to throw a surfboard in the back.

By the way, do you fine folx in the Ewe Kay realise just how LUCKY you all are to have had British Leyland cars? I'm jealous, BL cars from the Seventies are among my all-time flavour faves. Somebody send me a spare Wolseley or a Morris Marina, preferably an icky shade of Seventies mustard yellow. The USA in general needs far more British-made cars on our roads.

I'd happily give you my family's 1970s BL cars, except that those crocs of junk were sold after they had rusted through within a few years, and were probably scrapped more than a quarter-of-a-century ago.

If you really do like them, though, I'll ship you an authentic 1970s BL car for only $3000.

(Because it's authentic, it will consist of nothing except a big pile of rust in a container, and I'll make a huge profit on the deal, as will my friend's scap-merchant husband who will be delighted to take £25 for all the rust his lads can sweep up in 20 minutes)

The original 'V' reg numberplates are still on the Princess in the photo under the US plates.

I cannot believe what he's asking for it. At $1.67 to the pound that's over £2800. How much did it originally cost!

We saw some old cars in Greece recently, mark 1 Fiesta, old Mazdas, a Cavalier. All still running. A friendly waiter at a harbour restaurant even give us a lift to the ferry back to our island when raining in a Rover 200 (the first model from the 80s/90s)
