Help

I have a Peugeot 807 and the drivers side electronic rear door will not open electronically. Pressing any of the door opening buttons (key, centre consol and rear door) only opens the door a few inches & if I keep pressing the button it opens a few inches at a time - when it reaches fully open and I press the button to close it - it still tries to open more. If I open the door manually and then try to shut the door electronically the door still tries to open. Is there a reset procedure that I can try before going to a dealer?

Many thanks

I think only dealers can reset these doors. Our C8 sometimes has over sensitive doors - they almost shut then open again - a helping hand is needed, and that seems to 'self re-set'. Have you tried easing your doors as they start to open?

Thinking of getting a new one. Then I thought, why not investigate those nifty electric ones.

Anyone any experience? Recommendations? Read more

Electric garage doors along with electric gates are best thing since sliced bread - once you have them you wonder how you managed without.-- like cruise control/electric windows/ABS/remote locking/EBD/electric seats/remote fuel cap/turbo/AC/6CD/dipping mirrors /electric mirrors/etc.
In all seriousness electric garage doors are great whether up and over or roller.

Well I took my car in to be repaired and was handed the keys to a bright new yellow 3 door Corsa 1.0 Life. Oh dear how am I going to get around in that was the second thought that crossed my mind - the first was 'I hate the colour'!

My youngest daughter thought that it was the coolest car in the world, and the eldest grudgingly called it 'distinctive', although it has now been nicknamed the banana car. It was certainly very easy to spot in the car park yesterday, I have actually grown to like the combination, cheeky and chirpy.

I've driven the car about 700 miles in a week, mainly motorway at 75 mph ish, it naturally cruises at that sort of speed, and used £76 ish of petrol, aroound 50 mpg, not bad. Comfort was good for a fat old git

Given the dire performance statistics it performs well, work it reasonably hard and it will keep up with the traffic. Far less like a go-kart than the Aygo, but much more comfortable, and less strained, on the motorway, albeit a bit noisy at high speeds.

I will miss it tomorrow when it goes back. Altogether a pretty good car for in town driving and copes well with windy A-roads and motorways. I am biased as SWMBO has a 1.4 Design, but that is a much more sophisticated, whereas the Life is much cheekier.

At brokers brand new for just under £8,000, in my view a pretty and impressive package.

£8000 seems like a lot for a basic one especially when you can get a
1.4 16V GP Grande Punto for that money.

Or a brand-new, 2-litre Dodge Avenger ;)

Hmmm, Avenger or Aygo on the motorway. I wonder. The Dodge would have to be pretty abysmal to be beaten by the tin-box on the open road!

It just about time to renew SWBO?s insurance, so the various comparison websites have been brought into action.

We were expecting the premium to go up since during this year I have inadvertently managed to gain 3 SP30?s this year, ( Grrrrr?..all by white vans in 30 limit areas. ) but I have been astounded by the variation.

For the VW Eos diesel the quoted rates were from £270 rising swiftly into the £400?s and beyond into £600?s and beyond.

I wonder how this can be so in the competitive world of insurance. I appreciate that some companies will not want me as I am clearly now a hazard to all decent good fearing folk, but the variation still seems unbelievable????

I have a peugeot 406 Rapier 2.0 Hdi - sometimes when I take my foot off the accelerator the car speeds up as if I had put my foot down. Why is this? To slow the car I have to brake or change down.

Thanks for the reply mate. It certainly is strange the first time - and it does happen just as you describe. So long as it is not a defect it is easy enough to deal with. A bit like driving an automatic for a second or two.

Focus 1.6 Zetec (51/02)
The engine warning light has come on. SWMBO is driving it at the moment and hasn't reported any loss of power or hesitation etc.
Any ideas what this may be down to or is it a needle in a haystack and ford dealer visit? Read more

I've got a mechanic friend looking at it tomorrow.
Will keep you all informed.

Can anyone please shed some light on this problem?
while both accelerating/ decelerating @1800/2000revs the engine bay gives off an awful vibrating sound but only at this rev range. The noise is louder while sat inside of the vehicle. The noise alters when i press the clutch whilst in gear although the noise is just as prominent when parked in neutral.
If I change gear whilst travelling at anything lower or greater than 2000 revs there is no noise
Thank you to everyone in advance for any help with regards to this matter

Yes, could be something touching something that it shouldn't. Quite small things can cause quite big noises.

Is it the case though that there is no physical feeling of vibration, and that there is no effect on performance?
