I'm 23 years old and Recently passed my test and pass plus, I insured myself on a Toyota Yaris that belonged to my girlfriend but now find I need instead to be insured on my mums car , which is a mini cooper s 2004, my policy with ecarinsurance doesn't cover me to drive my mum's car til I'm over 25.I haven't driven yet since I passed.
What is the best way to do this? I need to start getting some driving practice in asap.
Should my mum put me as a named driver on her policy?
Or should i cancel my original insurance and start again?
I hadn't intended to drive a vehicle like a mini cooper s and imagine the premiums are going to be higher.
Is there any way of minimising this?

Hi all, I have strange foot pump there is no name on it the only I.D is a red crown transfer?, possible WD
Also attached to the pump is a vertical brass air storage cylinder fitted with a 50psi pressure gauge.
It's been very well constructed includes a brass base.
I'm unsure if it's connected with motoring or for another use?.
As anybody out there got any idea's
I could email somebody a picture if that helps, my email address is jbharleyman@hotmail.com.

Hello,
I'm starting a PC repair business and I'm looking to purchase a vehicle.
To make this as practical as possible, I'm looking to sell my current car and purchase a more practical vehicle, but I need a vehicle for both home and business so must have the back seats.
Budget up to £10k, something around Focus or Astra sized that looks good in black, with easy loading and rear seats that fold down to leave me with a flat floor. Obviously, it needs to be reliable.
I don't like the Berlingo type vehicles, I'd like something more car like.
Thanks, Geoff. Read more
Have a look at a V50 or similar, or a V70. Both of which will be at around the 10k mark, but possibly a bit older.
What about putting a discreet private plate on the car? Hides the age and possibly makes you more identifiable. I can remember there being a builder near where I used to live who had a Ford P100 (cortina style) pick up with the number plate B158MAD... when he changed it he took the plate with him as it was so distinctive (as evidenced by the fact taht I've not lived there for about 3 years and I can still remember the number)
my vw golf keeps dying when i start it. this site was reccomended to me for some advice.
when i turn the key the engine turns over then just dies. it sounds like it wants to start but gives up. it runs really well apart from this. it eventually starts after maybe 20 or 30 trys. keeping my foot on the accelerate peddle doesnt make any differance. as you can probably tell im a bit ignorant in all things car, what with me being a girl and all! please help as im on low income and darent put it in a garage as labour costs are high to find a problem that is intermittant. ive tried running reddex through it for a couple of tank fulls. really appreciate this. bec Read more
i have tried other key, no good. it only turns over and sounds like its trying to start.
this car opens by putting key in lock. told you how ignorant i am with cars!
i have read a few other threads trying to understand car terms. one person said had problems since cam belt change.
i had cam change about 3 months ago, have had problems on off since.
then starter motor went also battery was replaced.
this car is serviced every year with vw garage. they have had a look but said it started and ran fine for them. ( this was after new starter motor fitted)
thanks for taking time to help me. bec
Does anyone know anything about 1997 16v 1.3 Starlet Glanza,s imported from Far East I think maybe Japan / Hong Kong. Good points and bad points on the car. Any Info would be greatly appreciated.
Regards Hugh. Read more
The 1.3 engine was the same as used in the 1992 -1997 Corolla (16v 1331cc) - some versions of the Glanza were turbo-charged
My R-reg Fiesta Chicane has just had repairs after an MOT failure. I have been advised to keep no longer than 6 months.
The car has been idle for just short of a week and is now juddering in lower gears, as if the gear chosen is too low, when I know for a fact it isn't.
Someone said it's probably dampness somewhere after not been used for a while but I'm not sure.
In the meantime, I'm looking for a new/used car - city runabout really, but will do very occasional motorway driving. A lot of my journeys will be short - I do less than 5000 miles a year.
I've looked at several car sites and a used Jazz or Yaris seem reasonable options, or a new Mazda2 or Corsa.
If I was looking at the real budget end, an Aygo or Hyundai i10 would be possibles.
Obviously, I need to go and test drive these cars first to get a feel for them but just wondered what everyone thought.
Many thanks.

Has anyone out there bought a Micra Convertible recently. I'm referring to the hard top C+C. Read more
no i've had mine since may (CZC2), i'm sorry but a convertible micra just doesnt look right abit like the convertible smart car ......what were they thinking!!!
Out of the blue, my fiesta started to missfire. Shortly afterwards the engine light began flashing and the speed limitor kicked in. Fortunately I wasn't far from home but I'm now without a car. Some time ago something similar occurred, then it was a leaking core plug. As expected Ford took my eyes out, charging around £300 to repair (I was naive).
I suspect the current problem may be similar or involve the coilpack. I have ran the test on the dashboard but unable to make sense of most of the codes. There are around 35, I can post but to save time now is there any particular that would point out this problem. I'd appreciate any sort of help, before rushing out to Ford? Read more
I had the same problem with my Fiesta about 2 months ago. I took it to the Ford dealer who said that it was the coil pack. I had this replaced (£280!) and it cured the misfire and worked fine. Today the Engine Warning light has just come back on. It's not misfiring and sounds ok. I dont think they changed the plugs or leads when changing the coil pack. Any ideas whether this new light might be linked? Also checked for dtc codes but it says "none".
hi hope you can help bought a second hand 307 sw hdi recently, within a couple of days had a warning light come on with message "anti pollution filter" took it back to dealer who had it in to be checked over. the garage gave me the diagnostic sheet, it stated it had a 1425 unknown DTC and a p0246 turbo/super charger wastegate solenoid "A" high. now the light and pollution warning have gone out and the garage says not to worry about it as the fault is now only in the memory, i'm no mechanic and dont really understand cars so i was just wondering should i be worrying about this or believe the garage and forget about it or is it a serious fault that needs to be fixed even if its only in the memory now. thanks in advance for any help Read more
It's well worth asking a Peugoet dealer to run your reg number through their computer and see when a dealer last saw the car - and why.....
It would appear [from the ignorance of the code] that the car front just "sent it round the corner" to an unqualified mechanic to "put the light out" at minimal expense.
As you have been cast as the fall guy; insist that a qualified and experienced Peugeot specialist carries out all the necessary repairs - at their cost. Maybe then they'll learn to avoid FAP-equipped cars.
[Google "Eolys" for the details of the emission system on this one.]
Thanks-will take a look at that.
