2002 2.0 Turbo/Super charger wastegate solenoid "A - dk9
hi hope you can help bought a second hand 307 sw hdi recently, within a couple of days had a warning light come on with message "anti pollution filter" took it back to dealer who had it in to be checked over. the garage gave me the diagnostic sheet, it stated it had a 1425 unknown DTC and a p0246 turbo/super charger wastegate solenoid "A" high. now the light and pollution warning have gone out and the garage says not to worry about it as the fault is now only in the memory, i'm no mechanic and dont really understand cars so i was just wondering should i be worrying about this or believe the garage and forget about it or is it a serious fault that needs to be fixed even if its only in the memory now. thanks in advance for any help

First; it needs to go to a Peugeot dealer, or specialist, who does know what PSA codes mean!

It's probably recently been to one and the size of the quote was why the previous owner quickly got shot of it... Putting the light out is only postponing the inevitable; it will just come back on.

The solenoid valve that controls the turbo needs checking, or more probably, replacing. That's only one fault.

The, unconnected, P1425 code is a FAP code for a fault with the exhaust temp sensor downstream of the FAP itself; that's far more concerning. How many miles has this done?

cars done 48000 miles,

Then it's fast coming up to it's exhaust emission-equipment replacement time.

Get the supplier to send it to a dealer or specialist to get the FAP replaced, the Eolys fluid refilled and any FAP sensors or control ECUs replaced as needed. This is an expensive business and you don't want to be the one that it's foisted onto.

will the warning lights on the dash come back on or now the computer has been reset will it stay off?

I would expect the light back on within a week - unless they took the bulb out. [Car fronts are up to all the tricks.]

thanks for your help with this.

I'm going to take it for a long drive tomorrow (200 miles+) and see if i can get the light to come on a bit quicker.

do you think its worth contacting peugeot directly and asking for their advice before going back to the dealer?

It's well worth asking a Peugoet dealer to run your reg number through their computer and see when a dealer last saw the car - and why.....

It would appear [from the ignorance of the code] that the car front just "sent it round the corner" to an unqualified mechanic to "put the light out" at minimal expense.

As you have been cast as the fall guy; insist that a qualified and experienced Peugeot specialist carries out all the necessary repairs - at their cost. Maybe then they'll learn to avoid FAP-equipped cars.

[Google "Eolys" for the details of the emission system on this one.]
