I'm considering changing my much-loved 1994 BMW 525TD. Had it four years and it's by far the best car I've ever owned.
Downsides are that it's too big for me (just me and missus) and it's not that economical for a diesel; furthermore I don't do as much long-haul driving these days.
Really fancy an Accord coupe; heard a lot of nice things about Hondas in general, any thoughts please?
Looking to spend about 3 grand. Read more
HJ recommends several websites for buying cars via the internet. I can get a really good price from www.onlinecarslimited.com and they look to offer a good service.
Has anyone got any experience of them? Price obviously isn't everything and I'm more interested in getting the car delivered on time.
Thanks in advance
Steve

I've just found them, but I can do better with Carfile on my new car purchase.
How many LPG stations are currently open, and how many are scheduled for next 12 months? Read more
and don't forget, how many current LPG stations have LPG in stock ? from my experience ( I use an LPG converted 4 x 4 I sold to a mate years ago almost as often as he does ) , about a third of the time they haven't got LPG in stock - and in North London's inner suburbs there are no LPG filling stations , nearest one is Finchley and half the time they are out of stock - useless .
Bemused. Two bolts hold the starter motor onto the engine; one visible, the other completely hidden. Anybody know what the trick is? Haynes says to loosen the bracket that the motor is attached to, but it looks rather like an engine mounting bracket.
Thanks

Thanks, Screwloose. Not designed to be easy, is it!
Hi All, I have a wheel stud that has snapped on a rear wheel on my fiesta (non ABS).
Appreciate some help with the following info:
A quick overview of the procedure to replace: Does the drum need to be removed? Does the wheel bearing need to be replaced too? How long would it take? Can a ford hub nut be re-used or does it need to be replaced?
How much would you expect to pay to have this done at a garage (london)?
Thanks for reading, and appreciate if you can share some advice...

Most main dealers are supported by "area distributors" and can get parts within hours. My own local dealer who happens to be an "area distributor" has always been able to get parts that they don't hold within hours. They have also been able to get me an exhaust system for a 20+yr. old car within days.
`What`s your worst static risk at home to the car and how far are you above sea level?`
For me, despite being only 30 Metres above sea level, its the West wind and the risk of bits of cement and roof tiles blowing onto the car.
Not that the roof is in bad order, but its open country over the back fence for half a mile and a line of sight over 40 miles, West to the summit of the Pennines where the M62 cuts through.
The whole house shudders sometimes and you lay in bed listening to those green cement roof tiles shuffling about.........

Depreciation.
Hi all,
Screwloose, I hope you read this thread :0)
Okay, 2001 A4 tdi 74kW B6 (newish shape) Code: AVB
My wifes car has developed a slight stutter when driving at lower rev's..i.e
Pull of in first (ok) if you change into second and the rev's drop to around 1900/2000rpm then she holds back for a second then goes.....same difference in third.....it can also be felt a little in fourth if picking up.....t does seems to 'go' if you drive for a while......
I have read a couple of threads about a relay somewhere, but any help is very much appriecated.......
(Screwloose fyi: fixed the VW passet thanks ;0))
Thanks you all for any thoughts...
Cheers

Hello
Just wondering if any one could help me
I was reading all the faults and came across spluttering at low revs
I have an a4 2001 (b6 i think) and having a problem with spluttering at about 2000 rev can any one help
Ive taking it to audi what a waste of time and £300
Could anybody help me sort out resolving the very poor FM reception from the rear window aerial? I have recently brought this car and having owned the same model a few years back, I had exactly the same problem. Are they all generally bad? I have checked all the usual details but the only route to good reception would seem to be fitting a decent external aerial. I have fitted a new radio to replace the rather poor (non-bmw) existing unit.
On another subject, do these cars have a separate speaker amplifier unit fitted, i.e the speakers are not connected directly to the headunit? This would explain the rather poor audio performance I seem to be getting, despite fitting a high-performance headunit.
Happy Xmas!

I think that you have probably answered your own question with the experience of your previous car, its unlikley that two aerial systems would be faulty. The rear window is not a good location for an aerial as at VHF frequences the aerial need as fairly good 'view' of the local transmitter, which it won't get in the rear window. Additionally, you have the problem of a long feeder from the back of the car to the radio which itself is 'lossy'. The standard 1/4 wave aeraials roof aerials used by the Citroen/Peugeot group are very cheap, very effective and easy to fit if you have access to the inside of the roof at the front, on the Citroens this is through the inside light assembly.

Petrol or LPG at a flat 60 to 70 the engine is juddering - as if fuel is getting cut off and released. This is not just after filling with LPG either as the dealership in question have told me this is the cause as the gas is too cold?!
If it is the cause - why is it also doing it on petrol?
Best description is it feels not unlike that of mild turbulence on a plane? You can drive through this but sitting at 80mph all day on motorways will see me eventually pulling a car with blue and red lights lights....
Just been Vauxhall (40k) major serviced and it was doing this before the service.
I am now seriously (oh you just don't know how much) regretting buying this car.

This was how I found you - word of mouth from others - not sure if Geordie Lass (as I know her) or Grouse (as I know him) post on here?

Not necessarily; I know someone here whose daily driver is a '59 Edsel Ranger, and every time I see it on the road I'm *so* jealous. It's too cool.
