Got a problem with a W reg Matiz - the front screenwash jets wont work but the rear work fine.
Any ideas where to look and what for?
(I amended the header as you said the front wipers weren't working, but in the main body of your post you said it's the washer jets) Read more
`Which have you found the most critical criterion, time or mileage regarding engine oil change frequency?`
(Cars from the past decades up to the present)
I was talking with a mate about this recently and we reached some conclusions, which I will leave out until later.
Appreciate there are many factors that will make an outcome subjective to a particular car and its usage. But I mean, averaged out.
Evidentially too, not rhetoric, an example would be cambox cleanliness or signs of engine wear.

>>Also that Vauxhall and and Fiat have greatly differing service intervals for this engine,
Could it just be that Fiat are being excessively cautious? Is the minimum oil quality requirement the same in both applications?
Are these engines failing in Vauxhalls left, right, and centre?
>>Don't see many Fiat fleets
Mmm, can't think why!

Does anyone own a Mazda 2 and have any comments good or bad about it? Read more
OK thanks. I test drove one today, excellent. however the dealer offered us a very low deal on our current car and would not budge on the price of the Mazda (10K).
I was driving along when I lost power and glow plug light started to flash any ideas please

When this happened to me at 70k miles an injector needed reprogramming, 20 mins on the diagnostics at the dealer, done as goodwill despite being out of warranty though would have been about £45, done 55k since with no reoccurrance.
If there is an existing thread on this subject then I apologise for neglecting to add to it.
I had an experience recently of the way at least one of our leading super markets encourages customers to part with their money in devious but legal ways. My chosen SM periodically has a promotion on ?cheap? fuel. If the customer spends more than £50.00 in the shop then a coupon is given entitling the said customer to 5p per litre off the fuel in the SM station. Looks good, hey ! Advertised cost 106.9p, less 5p = 101.9p.
I did so, but checked what the garage down the road was charging, 102.9p ? hence I saved 1p per litre.
At the end of the promotion the supermarket fuel cost fell to 101.9p, and the place down the road remained 102.9p - I still saved 1p per litre.
So, during the period of the promotion the loyal customers (spending £50.00 or more) saved 1p a litre on their fuel, and when the promotion was no more, still saved 1p per litre. But, during the promotion the passing trade (who didn?t notice the price until too late) paid 5p per litre more.
So, a win-win situation for the SM. Doubles all round !!

Don't know about money off schemes, but it seems to me that over the last few weeks it has been the case in our area (West Wales) that supermarket petrol is no longer guaranteed to be cheaper. A Shell station near St. Clears on the A40, usually 3 pence or so higher than Tesco Carmarthen, is now a penny cheaper, and the smaller "backwoods" stations aren't a great deal higher.
My cynical mind wonders if Tesco and the rest are holding their prices up (and therefore their profit margins) to pay for the anticipated fines issued for robbing farmers.
Hello,
Can anyone advice Ive got a £1000 to spend on a Jag is it worth getting one at that price or am I just wasting my time?? Can anyone recommend which model etc. How much will it cost me for spare parts if goes wrong? I love jags just want to careful.

It was ten years old at the time. Had only done 8k in last 3 years. He did go down the pub every night mind you.
Hi, I'm having problems with my 96 megane. There is no hot air blowing from the heaters, only luke warm or cold. I've noticed that the engine temperature gauge is going up and down, could it need more antifreeze? Also, the engine has been cutting out on me for a while now, the mechanic says it's a problem with the idle control valve. Could these two problems be related? Thanks for any advice.

Sounds as though you need a new thermostsat. Variation in engine temperature would seem to confirm that.

Daughter has received a notice under Section 172 RTA 1988 as a person who may have information in relation to alleged offences of driving a vehicle 'dangerously, carelessly or without reasonable consideration for other persons ... contary to Sections 2 and 3 of the RTA 1988.'
She was in the vehicle at around the time and in the location of the alleged offence.
The notice refers to a registration number that does not relate to the car that she was driving. The plate recorded is AB00CDE and the car was AB00XDE.
The alleged offence took place on 10 November 2007 and the s172 notice is dated 16 December.
As I see it Daughter can complete Parts 1 & 2 altering the registration number, or part 3 saying 'she has no knowledge of who was driving AB00CDE'.
I am not looking for a loop hole, but the best way to resolve the problem.

We went with 1-3. Letter included daughter's version of events as this seemed to strengthen her case - as no 'accident' - and therefore out of time notice - and describing cyclist on pavement and no lights - as well as errors in info provided by PCSO. Really did not want to wait for caution i/v to put forward defences.
Objective was to give them at least two reasons to drop case.
Another example :-)

Then the companies luck, sadly, really ran out.

Does anyone know where you can obtain Toyota T4 automatic transmission fluid as used in their newer automatic gearboxes on current shape avensis.
Want to do a complete fluid change on a higher mileage vehicle.
Not listed on independent toyota parts specilaists websites, and motor-factors don't seem to be able to get hold of it and some haven't heard of it.
I don't really want to buy from Main-dealer as oils/fluids always an arm & leg from them.
There are some US websites where it doesn't look too expensive compared to Dexron III but of course the shipping is the problem. Over there it seems to be readily obtainable from motor-factors, but not over here - why ???
IS there a substitute fluid that could be used eg. Dexron III or another brand , especially if the fluid were to be changed at every service ?
Does anyone know the differece between this T4 and Dexron III etc.

Searching US websites may be a blind alley - a number of automatic transmission fluids available there are simply unavailable in Europe unless you ship it directly - eg Castrol Transmax J, Castrol Import Multi-brand Transmission Fluid and Nissan Matic-J.
If it has been really cold there might be no noise from the pump because that has frozen too. Are you in the Highlands and 'enjoying' -10C, that would explain it. Otherwise it could be a bad connection or a blown fuse, unless both pumps work off the same one.
